User Authentication 1General Description Windows Server - Windows 2000*1 Server - Windows Server 2003*2 - Windows Server 2008*3 User Name/Password Authentication LAN Chapter 1 General Description The User Authentication is a function to use devices under the management of a Windows® server. Users must be authenticated before using the functions of the machine (copying, faxing, scanning, and printing). The supported authentication protocol is NTLM v2 and Kerberos v5.
Job Tracking Chapter 1 General Description The following jobs can be tracked with this function. 1. Fax Transmission and Reception via PSTN 2. Email Transmission to an Internet Fax or a PC 3. RightFax Server When using it with the User Authentication function, it will increase the security by controlling the usage and identifying the users. Windows Server Mail Server RightFax Server G3 Fax PSTN Sending image data via PSTN. POP receives the content of fax. Authentication LAN Sends image data with fax number. Check Fax logs. Chapter 1 General Description By enabling the RightFax® Server function, all faxes are sent via the RightFax server.
Login Procedure (Using Copy/Fax/Scanner/ Printer) 2Using Machine Chapter 2 Using Machine Users must enter the login name and password before using any devices which have the User Authentication function enabled. Authentication is performed using the user’s Windows account. z When using the User Authentication for the first time, refer to Setting Machine (See pages 12 to 28). z The system administrator should set up the User Authentication function.
4 Ex: pana01 1 5 6 2 Select “OK” to start the authentication process. This completes the authentication. Message Explanation Authentication Failed The login failed. Check your user name and password. Check whether the date and time are set properly. Logon Attempts Exceeded The system has been locked because the permitted number of log-on attempts has been exceeded. Please contact the system administrator. Connection Failed Unable to connect to the authentication server.
Sending a Document via RightFax Chapter 2 Using Machine When the RightFax server is used to send a fax, the following details are entered in the recipient (To) field and sender (From) field. z Using the RightFax function requires the configuration of RightFax server. Refer to RightFax Server Setting (see page 27). Field Content Recipient Station name registered for One-Touch or ABBR. dialling. If manual number dialling is used, you can enter the user name from the Control Panel.

(Up to 60 characters) Ex: panasonic.com You can set up to 10 domain names. 7 Select the authentication method, and then select “OK”. 1 2 NTLM Selects NTLM. Clr Text Selects CLEAR TEXT. Kerberos Selects Kerberos. 1 2 Select “On” to use SSL or “Off” to disable SSL, and then select “OK”.
ID Timeout Setting z Before performing this setup, you first need to set “45 User Authentication” (See page 12). 1 Press the Function key. 2 Select “General Settings”. 4 Enter the Key Operator password (8 digits), and then select “OK”. 1 Chapter 3 Setting Machine If the ID Timeout setting is set to “Auto Rst”, authentication is cancelled if no operation is performed on the machine for a specified time period after performing authentication.
6 Chapter 3 Setting Machine 18 Select the ID Timeout setting, and then select “OK”. 1 7 2 Auto Rst An authenticated user will be logged out if no operation is performed on the machine for a specified time period after performing authentication. EveryJob On the completion of a job, the authenticated user will be logged out. Press the Reset key to return to standby.
Auto Reset Time Setting 1 Press the Function key. 2 Select “General Settings”. 4 Enter the Key Operator password (8 digits), and then select “OK”. 1 2 z The default password is “00000000”. z To change the password, select “80 Key Operator Password” in the General Settings (Key Operator Mode), and then enter the new password. 5 3 Chapter 3 Setting Machine This sets the ID Timeout period when “Auto Rst” is selected for ID Timeout setting.

Log-on Attempts Setting The system is locked if the permitted number of log-on attempts is exceeded during the User Authentication. z Before performing this setup, you first need to set “45 User Authentication” (See page 12). 1 Press the Function key. 2 Select “General Settings”. 4 Enter the Key Operator password (8 digits), and then select “OK”. 1 Chapter 3 Setting Machine This sets the permitted number of log-on attempts. 2 z The default password is “00000000”.

Lockout Time Setting z Before performing this setup, you first need to set “45 User Authentication” (See page 12). 1 Press the Function key. 2 Select “General Settings”. 4 Enter the Key Operator password (8 digits), and then select “OK”. 1 Chapter 3 Setting Machine This sets the time period (minutes) for the system lockout when the permitted number of log-on attempts is exceeded during the User Authentication.

Job Tracking Setting z Before performing this setup, you first need to register the destination Email address for the log in the Address Book. Furthermore, change the setting of “54 Fax Forward” (Fax/Email Settings > Fax Parameters) to “Invalid”. z Set the POP Parameters to receive Emails automatically when using the Job Tracking function. Otherwise, your machine cannot receive any Emails. Make sure that the Fax Parameters are NOT set as below. Auto POP Receive (Fax Parameter No.

RightFax Server Setting z Password transmission is not available if the RightFax server setting is set to “Valid”. z When the User Authentication function is enabled, you must log in to the machine to change settings. See the following sections for details about how to log in. - Administrator Login on page 29 for logging in as the system administrator. - Login Procedure (Using Copy/Fax/Scanner/Printer) on page 8 for logging in as a user.

Administrator Login 4Appendix In case of network trouble, the administrator can log in using the Local Machine domain without being authenticated through the network. 1 2 The login screen appears if User Authentication is enabled. Select “User ID”, and enter the administrator ID, and then select “OK”. Ex: panasonic 1 3 Select “Password”, and enter the administrator password, and then select “OK”. 1 4 Chapter 4 Appendix This confirms the system administrator who manages the Panasonic machine.
5 Chapter 4 Appendix 6 Select “OK” to start the authentication process. This completes the authentication. z Refer to Authentication Setting (see page 12) for the registration of administrator’s ID and password.
