Basic Operation Procedure 1 Place original(s). 3 Select the required settings if necessary. Face up. Up to 100 sheets (80 g/m2 / A4) z The original size is detected and a corresponding Copy Size is automatically selected. Face down. Align with the top left corner. Close ADF. z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6). 2 Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. z When the desired size of paper is not set in the Paper Trays, use the Sheet Bypass.

(Up to 999) z Depending on the More Menus settings, the following screen may appear. z When inputting a number (4 to 8 digits) with the optional Fax Communication Board installed, the machine automatically interprets it as a telephone number, switches to the Fax mode, and displays the Number Pad screen.
You can easily enlarge or reduce the copy size by selecting the preset size with the Copy Size buttons. Ex: Enlargement A4R Ex: Reduction A3 A3 A4R z To change the assigned paper size of Copy Size buttons, select “Paper/Output Tray” and modify the settings. For setting the paper size and media type for Paper Trays, refer to General Settings (Key Operator Mode) in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. 1 Place original(s) in Landscape Orientation.
Selecting the Colour Mode Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features You can copy in the Colour mode selected by the machine, or select the Colour mode manually. Refer to Copier Settings (Key Operator Mode) in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
Enter the desired number of copies. Press the Start key. z After finishing copying, press the Reset key to return to the initial screen of the current active mode.
Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features Black Mode Full Colour Mode Colour and monochrome originals can be copied in black and white. Colour original can be copied in Full Colour. 2 Colour Mode The specified colour can be selected from the basic colours (red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, and cyan) and the registered colours. Ex: When copying a full colour original in cyan and black. z When the 2 Colour mode is selected, the Original Type setting selection is not available. 1 Select “2 Colour”. 3 Select a colour from the basic colours or custom colours, and then select “OK”.

1 Colour Mode The colour can be selected from the basic colours (red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, and cyan) and the registered colours. Ex: Copying a full colour original in cyan. Ex: Copying a monochrome original in cyan. z When the 1 Colour mode is selected, the Original Type setting selection is not available. 1 Select “1 Colour”. 3 Select a colour from the basic colours or custom colours, and then select “OK”.

New Colour Registration 3 Select “Add Custom”. Adjust the colour level of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow colours. z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 to 2 of 2 Colour Mode (see page 15). 2 1 2 Colour Colour Ratio Colour Sample Indicator Select any button without a colour name registered, and then select “OK”. z The created new colour can be confirmed with the Colour Sample Indicator in real time. z The total combined colour level of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow should be 240% or less.

Select the original type corresponding to your documents. Text Text/Photo Photo Other Types Adjust the copy density according to your requirements. Decreased density Lighter Darker Increased density Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features Selecting Original Type and Adjusting the Density z The Original Type setting selection is not available when the 2 Colour or 1 Colour mode is selected.
4 Select the Original Type. Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features Text Adjust the density using “Lighter” or “Darker”, and then select “OK”. Select when copying text without any pictures. 1 • “Printed”: Original full of printed characters Original written with pencil to make it darker Text/Photo Select when copying originals containing text and pictures. • “Photo Paper” • “LaserPrinted” 6 7 2 Lighter Each time it is selected, the density level is decreased, brightening the printed colour.
Registering Quality Preset The following quality adjustment settings can be registered: • Auto, Black, Full Colour, 2 Colour, or 1 Colour • Original Type • Density More Settings • • • • • • • Background Removal Bleed-Through Prevention Tint Contrast Sharpness Saturation Colour Balance z For details on how to use the Quality Preset, refer to Using Quality Preset (see page 25). z The registered image quality setting is kept until it is overwritten by a new setting. 1 Place original(s).

Confirm the image quality of the copied papers. z After finishing copying, press the Reset key to return to the initial screen of the current active mode.
Using Quality Preset z For details on how to register image quality adjustment settings into Quality Preset, refer to Registering Quality Preset (see page 23). 1 Place original(s). 5 z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6). 2 3 Select a Quality Preset button, and then select “OK”. Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select “Quality Adj.”. 1 2 The selected Quality Preset settings are reflected.
Quality Adjusting Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features Image quality items can be easily set by selecting from 4 image quality types (Vivid, Bright, Warmer, and Cooler). Additionally, in the Custom Setting selection, the following 7 image quality adjustments can be set.
4 6 Select an Image Quality type, and then select “OK”. 7 8 Select “OK”. Enter the desired number of copies. Press the Start key. Confirm the image quality of the copied papers. z After finishing copying, press the Reset key to return to the initial screen of the current active mode. 1 2 Custom Setting (See pages 28 to 34) Default Copies with the default image quality set by the function parameters. Vivid Copies with vivid image quality. Bright Copies with bright image quality.
Background Removal Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features The original can be copied with the background colour removed. This function is useful when copying newspapers or an original with background colour. z The settings of Background Removal become invalid if “Photo” is selected in “Original Type”. 1 Select “Custom Setting”. 3 Adjust the level of Background Removal with “-” and “+”, and then select “OK”. z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 to 4 of Quality Adjusting (see page 26).
Bleed-Through Prevention z The setting of Bleed-Through Prevention becomes invalid if “Photo” is selected in “Original Type”. z When setting the Tint adjustment to More Blue or More Red, the copies may come out with bleed through contamination. 1 z If you set the Background Removal to “Off”, the Bleed-Through Prevention will not be adjustable. Select “Bleed-Through Prevention”. BleedThrough Prevention 3 There are 6 levels. The higher the level, the higher the prevention effect. Select “OK”.
Tint Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features The original can be copied with reddish or bluish colour accentuated. Reddish colour accentuated Bluish colour accentuated 1 Select “Tint”. More Red Each time it is selected, the level of reddish colour increases by 1 grade. (The bluish colour level decreases by 1 grade.) More Blue Each time it is selected, the level of bluish colour increases by 1 grade. (The reddish colour level decreases by 1 grade.) z The screen will return to step 1.
Contrast Higher Lower 1 Select “Contrast”. Lower Each time it is selected, the contrast level decreases by 1 grade lower. (The distinction between brightness and darkness is reduced.) Higher Each time it is selected, the contrast level increases by 1 grade higher. (The distinction between brightness and darkness is increased.) Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features The original can be copied with the adjusted contrast. z The screen will return to step 1.
Sharpness Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features The original can be copied by softening or sharpening the outline of the image. Lower Higher 1 Select “Sharpness”. Lower Each time it is selected, the sharpness level decreases by 1 grade lower. (The image outline is softened.) Higher Each time it is selected, the sharpness level increases by 1 grade higher. (The image outline is sharpened.) z The screen will return to step 1. Select “OK”, and then proceed to steps 6 to 8 of Quality Adjusting (see page 26).
Saturation Lower 1 Select “Saturation”. Higher 2 Adjust the saturation with “Lower” or “Higher”, and then select “OK”. z To display this screen, refer to step 1 of Background Removal (see page 28). 1 2 Lower Each time it is selected, the saturation level decreases by 1 grade lower, reducing the colour saturation. Higher Each time it is selected, the saturation level increases by 1 grade higher, increasing the colour saturation.
Colour Balance Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features The original can be copied with the adjusted density level (Darker, Medium, and Lighter) of Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, and Black. z The density of each colour can be fine tuned for each of the three density levels. This function is useful for the fine adjustment of colour photos. Unlike image editing software, this function cannot greatly change the colour tone since the adjustable range at each density level is very narrow. 1 Select “Colour Balance”.
Proof Copying After confirming its quality, the remaining copies can be printed. One copy as a proof copy 1 Place original(s). The remaining copies are made after confirmation. 6 z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6). 2 3 4 5 Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select the copy features if necessary. Enter the desired number of copies. Select “Proof Set”. Press the Start key. The first copy is printed and the Confirmation screen appears.
Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features Confirming/Editing the Selected Copy Features Before copying, the settings of “More Menus” can be checked, changed, and deleted. 1 Select “Confirm Settings”. Select “Non Sort”. Select “Shift-Sort”, and then select “OK”. 2 Check the settings, and then select “Close”. 1 Select “Close”. z If “Confirm Settings” is selected, the setting screen is displayed and the settings (except 1 -> 1) can be changed. z If “Reset All” is selected, all the settings are cancelled.
Storing a Job in Memory z Refer to Recalling a Preset Job Stored in Memory (see page 39). z Once registered, the copy job settings are kept in the job memory until they are overwritten by new settings. z A Proof Copy job cannot be registered in the job memory. z “M1:”/“M2:” cannot be registered when the Manual Skyshot mode is selected. Refer to Copier Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. 1 Place original(s). z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6).

Recalling a Preset Job Stored in Memory z Refer to Storing a Job in Memory (see page 37). 1 Place original(s). 5 z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6). 2 3 Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. To confirm the job settings, select “Confirm Settings”, and then select “Close”. Select “Preset Jobs”. z To change the setting, refer to Confirming/ Editing the Selected Copy Features (see page 36). 4 Select a stored job.
Checking the Waiting to Copy Job Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features A list of jobs currently being printed or waiting to print can be displayed. The following types of jobs can be displayed. • All jobs • Copy jobs Waiting to print jobs can be deleted. Displaying a List of All Jobs Displaying a List of Copy Jobs A list of all the jobs currently being printed or waiting to print can be displayed. A list of Copy jobs currently being printed or waiting to print can be displayed.
Deleting Copy Jobs 1 Select “Copy” in the Output Queue screen. Copy Select when deleting a copy job. Print Select when deleting a print job. • Refer to the Operating Instructions (For Printer) of provided CD-ROM. z To display the Output Queue screen, refer to Checking the Waiting to Copy Job (see page 40). 2 Select a job, and then select “Delete”. 1 3 Select “Yes”. The selected Copy job is deleted. 4 Select “Close”. Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features The jobs in the Ready status can be deleted.
Completion Notice Chapter 1 Basic Menu Features If the Completion Notice is set, you will be notified on your computer when copying is completed. z Before using this function, install the Panasonic Document Management System and PCL Printer Driver, and then configure each software. z To register the IP Address of your computer, refer to Network Scanner Settings and Completion Notice Function in the Operating Instructions (For User Setup) of provided CD-ROM. 1 Place original(s).
2-Sided Copy Mode 2More Menus Features z Special papers such as cardboard cannot be used for the 2-Sided copy. Basic Operation for the 2-Sided Copy Mode 1 2 3 Place original(s). 1 -> 1 Clears the 2-Sided copy mode. z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6). 1 -> 2 (See page 45) z For “2 -> 1”, “2 -> 2”, “Booklet”, “Multi-Size Feed”, and “Job Build and SADF”, place originals on the ADF.
Copying 1-Sided Originals onto 2-Sided Sheets Chapter 2 More Menus Features Two 1-sided originals can be copied onto one 2-sided sheet. The 1st original’s image is copied onto the front side and the 2nd original’s image is copied onto the back side of the sheet. 1 Select “2-Sided / Original->Copy”, and then select “1 -> 2”. 3 Select the bind position, and then select “OK”. 1 1 2 z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 to 3 of Basic Operation for the 2-Sided Copy Mode (see page 43).
Copying 2-Sided Original(s) onto Two Separate Sheets 1 Select “2-Sided / Original->Copy”, and then select “2 -> 1”. 2 Select the bind position, and then select “OK”. 1 1 2 z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 to 3 of Basic Operation for the 2-Sided Copy Mode (See page 43). 2 • Long Edge Copies both sides of original aligning to the long edge of the original. Copying Facing Page Original onto a 2-Sided Sheet Chapter 2 More Menus Features Facing pages or an A3 size original can be copied as separated into one 2-sided sheet. 1st Page 2nd Page 1 Select “2-Sided / Original->Copy”, and then select “Book -> 2”. 3 Select the Orientation of the original. Select for the original in landscape orientation. 1 2 z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 to 3 of Basic Operation for the 2-Sided Copy Mode (See page 43).
4 Select the Page Order of the original. The right page of the facing pages is copied first. 5 Select the Copy Format, and then select “OK”. 1 2 The first through last page are copied. Chapter 2 More Menus Features The left page of the facing pages is copied first. The first page and beyond are copied, but the last page is not copied. The first page is not copied, but the rest including the last page is copied. The first and last page are not copied.
Copying Multiple Pages onto a Single Sheet (N in 1 Copy) Chapter 2 More Menus Features Multiple pages (2, 4 or 8 sheets) can be copied onto a single sheet. The images of originals are reduced to fit into the size of the copy paper.
3 Select the Orientation of the original. When 1 -> 2, 2 -> 1 or 2 -> 2 is selected Ex: When 1 -> 2 is selected for “2 in 1” Select for the original in portrait orientation. Select for the original in landscape orientation. 4 Select the desired copy mode. 1 2 Long Edge: Copies both sides of original aligning to the long edge of the original. Short Edge: Copies both sides of original aligning to the short edge of the original.

Copying Originals with Saddle-Stitch Binding (Booklet) z Saddle-Stitch binding is possible only when the optional 1Bin Saddle-Stitch Finisher (DA-FS405W) is installed. A3, B4, and A4R are the only applicable paper sizes (B4 size can be selected only when printing from computer). z The standard setting for the copy size is the reduced size, however, the setting can be changed to the original size. Refer to Copier Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
Chapter 2 More Menus Features When “2 Sided” is selected Select the bind position of the original, and then select “OK”. 1 2 4 Select the cover page type if necessary. Select “Cover”. Select the cover type. Long Edge: Copies both sides of original aligning to the long edge of the original. Short Edge: Copies both sides of original aligning to the short edge of the original. 3 Select the bind position for the copy. Blank Not copied on the cover. Copy Copied on the cover.
Select “OK” to exit the cover settings. 6 Select “OK”. z For the following procedure, refer to steps 5 to 6 of Basic Operation for the 2-Sided Copy Mode (See page 43). z When the fold position does not match with the centre position of the copies, set the binding margin. Refer to General Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
Copying Mixed Size Originals from the ADF Chapter 2 More Menus Features Use this function when copying mixed size originals (A4 and A3, or A5, A4R, and B4). Using the ADF, original size can be detected automatically and copied in the same size or the specified size.
Select the bind position of the original, and then select “OK”. ABC ABC Ex: When 1 -> 2 is selected ABC When all originals are horizontally long Ex: 3 ABC Select the desired copy mode, and then select “OK”. 1 2 Long Edge: Copies both sides of the smaller original aligning to the long edge of the original. Short Edge: Copies both sides of the smaller original aligning to the short edge of the original.
4 Chapter 2 More Menus Features When copying the same paper size, select “Basic Menu”, and then select a desired copy size with the Copy Size buttons. 1 2 z For the following procedure, refer to steps 5 to 6 of Basic Operation for the 2-Sided Copy Mode (See page 43). Ex: Combination of A4 (Portrait layout) and A3 (Landscape layout) size original Copy images (1 -> 2 copy mode) Bind position is Short Edge. A4 A3 (Portrait) (Landscape) Copy size is set to A4. Copy size is not set.
Copying Special Originals (Thin Paper, etc.) from the ADF This mode adds a 5-second delay to allow another original to be placed on the ADF. Special originals (thin paper, etc.) can be fed from the ADF and copied continuously using the SADF mode. 1 2 3 4 Place one original (minimum 50 g/m2) on the ADF. Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select “More Menus”. Select “2-Sided / Original->Copy”, and then select “Job Build and SADF”.
Job Build Chapter 2 More Menus Features This is useful for copying multiple sets of originals that exceed the maximum capacity of the ADF of 100 sheets (80 g/m2 / A4). (See the example below.) Ex: To make 5 sets of sorted copies of 115-sheet of originals. 1. Place the first 100 sheets of originals on the ADF. 2. Select “2-Sided / Original->Copy”, and then select “Job Build and SADF”. 3. Select “Sort / Finish”, and then select the desired Sorting/Finishing end result. 4. Enter 5 for the number of copies.
Sort Mode Sort Rotate-Sort Rotate-Group 1 1 3 1 2 1 4 1 The following Finishing modes are available when the optional Finisher and Punch Unit are installed. Shift-Sort Shift-Group Staple-Sort Saddle-Stitch Punch z Only A4/A4R size is applicable for “Rotate-Sort” and “Rotate-Group”. When “Rotate-Sort” or “Rotate-Group” is selected with Letter and Letter-R size paper loaded in the paper tray, sets of copies are stacked in alternate direction (rotation of 90 degrees).

Select the Orientation of the original, and then select the Staple position. Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select “More Menus”. 1 2 Select for the original in portrait orientation. 4 Select “Sort / Finish”, and then select a sort mode. Select for the original in landscape orientation.
When the optional 1Bin Finisher is installed. Enter the desired number of copies. Press the Start key. z When copying from the Platen Glass, place the next original and follow the instructions described on the Touch Panel Display. z After finishing copying, press the Reset key to return to the initial screen of the current active mode. 1 2 z When “Staple-Sort” is selected, refer to the following. Select the Orientation of the original, and then the Staple position.
Zoom Mode Chapter 2 More Menus Features Variable Ratios The original can be copied by setting the Enlargement/Reduction Ratio. 1 Select the item to enlarge/reduce. z Refer to Placing Originals (See page 6). 2 3 4 Press the Copy key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select “More Menus”. Select “Zoom / Effects”, and then select “Zoom”. 2 64 5 Place original(s). 1 XY Select to set the same enlargement/reduction ratio vertically and horizontally.
Place original(s) on the ADF. Ex.25% ABC Ex. 50% ABC 100% Place an original on the Platen Glass. Copying Inverse Image z This function is only available when “Black” is selected in the Colour mode. If the “Inverse” is selected when the other Colour mode has been set, a message appears prompting you to change the setting to “Black”. z This function is cancelled if the Colour mode is changed from “Black” to the other Colour mode after selecting “Inverse”. z The Colour mode remains set to “Black” even if the Inverse mode is cancelled.
Insertion Modes Chapter 2 More Menus Features Adding a Cover Page to Copies The original can be copied using other types of paper for a cover page. Only the Front cover, or Front and Back covers can be selected. Overlay Modes Chapter 2 More Menus Features Overlaying an Image onto the Copies The original can be overlaid with the first page of the original. The first page is called the overlay original, and the second page onwards are called the scanned original, respectively. Ex: Overlay on Top Scanned Originals Overlay Original z The size available for both of the overlay original and scanned original is A4. z “Auto” cannot be selected in the Colour mode.

Making Copies with the ADF Opened 3Other Features Chapter 3 Other Features The original can be copied without generating dark borders even if the ADF is opened. Digital Skyshot Mode The Digital Skyshot mode can be selected in the standard settings. z When “2 Page” or “N in 1” is selected, only “Normal” can be set in the Digital Skyshot mode. z If there is a white margin less than 5 mm around the original, the edge of the copy may come out abnormal (white lines/streaks).
Manual Skyshot Mode z Before using the Manual Skyshot mode, set M1 or M2 in the preset jobs. Refer to Copier Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. z Originals with black borders may not be copied properly. z If the Manual Skyshot mode is selected in “Sort”, “Shift-Sort”, “Rotate-Sort”, “Staple-Sort”, “Shift-Group” or “Rotate-Group”, the setting is automatically changed to “Non Sort”.
Chapter 3 Other Features Reserving the Next Copy Job while the Current Copy Job is Progressing The next copy job can be reserved while the current copy job is under way. z The previous copy job settings can be saved if the Function Parameter 41 Reserve a Job Settings (Copier Settings > Key Operator Mode) is set to “Save”. This is useful when using the previous copy job settings to the next copy job.
You can interrupt the current copy jobs and make an urgent copy. z When scanning the current copy job, other copy jobs cannot be interrupted. 1 Press the Interrupt key while copying. 7 After the copy operation is completed, press the Interrupt key again. The screen returns to the previous copy mode. 8 Press the Start key to resume the previous copying operation.
