Glossary Bitstream This is the digital form of multi-channel audio data (e.g„ 5.1 chan nel) before it is decoded into its various channels. CPRM (Content Protection for Recordable Media) CPRM is the copyright protection technology that is used to protect broadcasts that are allowed to be recorded only once (e.g. some CATV broadcasts). Decoder A decoder restores the coded audio signals on DVDs to normal. This is called decoding.
Error messages On the television Page No disc. • You haven't inserted a disc. Correctly insert a disc that this unit can use. • The disc is upside down. If it is a single-sided disc, insert it so the label is facing up. 8 18 This is non-recordable disc. • The unit cannot record on the disc you inserted. The unit cannot record onto finalized DVD-R, DVD-Video, CDs, or video CDs. Insert a DVD-RAM or unfinatized DVD-R. • You inserted an unformatted DVD-RAM. Format the disc with this unit.

Cannot hear the desired audio type. • Press [AUDIO] to select the desired audio type. • Go to Audio in the SETUP menus and choose the correct setting with “Seiect MTS for DVD-R or LPCM”. • If you are recording a television program and change the drive, you cannot change the audio on that drive. The audio will be the type selected for recording.
