Troubleshooting
If the handset display shows error messages, see “If the Following Appear on
Your Display...” (p. 83–85) for the Cause & Remedy.

Problem Cause & Remedy
Static, sound cuts in/out,
fades. Interference from other
electrical units.
Move the handset and the base unit away
from other electrical appliances (p. 6).
Walk closer to the base unit.
Raise the base unit antennas.
Turn on the Clarity Booster feature (p. 29).
The base unit and/or handset
does not ring.
The ringer volume is OFF. Set to HIGH,
MEDIUM or LOW (p. 20, 21).
If more than one other unit is in use, the
handset/base unit may not ring. Users will
hear incoming call tones (p. 61).
The handset display is blank. If only the handset display is blank, fully
charge the battery (p. 12).
You cannot program any
function items.
Programming is not possible while the unit is
being used.
Do not pause for over 60 seconds while
programming.
Walk closer to the base unit.
While another user is listening to messages
or the Answering System is handling a call,
you cannot program. Try again later.
If more than three other units are in use, you
may not be able to program. Try again later.
While programming or
searching, the handset starts
to ring and the program/
search stops.
A call is coming in. To answer the call, press
[C] or [s]. Start again from the beginning
after hanging up.
You cannot make an intercom/
outside call.
If more than one other unit is in use, you may
not be able to make a call. Try again later.
Your handset is in remote operation mode
(p. 67). Exit by pressing [OFF].
The handset you called is too far from the
base unit.
