interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view appears.
Step 3 Run:
ppp mp virtual-template number
The command binds the interface to an existing VT.
When using a VT to bind an interface, consider the following items:
z
Physical interfaces must be bound into one VT in the same mode.
z
All physical interfaces in one VT must be at the same interface board as the SR8000
does not support trans-board MP binding.
z
Number of the physical interfaces bound in one VT that are used to interwork at two
ends must be the same.
z
Multiple physical interfaces are bound in one local VT. The peer interfaces directly
connected to those physical interfaces must be bound into one VT.
Step 4 Choose one of the following methods to restart the interface.
z
Run the shutdown and undo shutdown commands.
z
Run the restart command.
When the interface is bound to the virtual interface template:
z
If the LCP of the physical interface in the Opened status, you must run the shutdown and
undo shutdown commands or run the restart command on the physical interface to restart
the interface, so that the LCP negotiation is re-enabled to ensure that the physical
interface is successfully bound to the MP.
z
If the LCP negotiation on the physical interface fails and is still in the negotiation stage,
you need not restart the physical interface.
To ensure that the physical interface is bound successfully to an MP, it is recommended to restart all the
physical interfaces after all the bindings are configured.
----End
After running the undo ppp mp command succeeds in the interface view, the MP binding is
deleted on the interface. At this time, you need not to restart the interface because the PPP
protocol can carry out auto-negotiation till the link layer status of the interface turns Up.
There are about 40 seconds from running the command to the Up status of the link layer
protocol.
6.6.4 Checking the configuration
Run the following commands to check the previous configuration.
Action Command
Check the status of the specified
VT.

Check the information about the
MP binding.
display ppp mp [ interface interface-type
