Document No. Description
RFC1332 The PPP Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP)
RFC1962 The PPP Compression Control Protocol (CCP)
6.2 Encapsulating an interface with PPP and MRU
negotiation
6.2.1 Establishing the configuration task
Applicable environment
The P2P connection is a simple WAN connection. Protocols that can be encapsulated on the
link layer are as follows:
z
PPP supports both synchronous and asynchronous transmission.
z
HDLC supports only synchronous transmission.
PPP is on the layer 2 of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model.
PPP can:
z
Transmit the data in point-to–point mode on the asynchronous or synchronous links
supporting full-duplex
z
Support the Maximum Receive Unit negotiation mechanism
If the link is configured with a MTU value, you need to apply the MRU negotiation to
make MTU values at two ends of the PPP link consistent. So the smooth data
communication is assured.
Preconfiguration tasks
Before configuring PPP, configure POS physical attributes.
Data preparation
To configure PPP or PPP MRU negotiation, you need the following data.

1 Number of the interface
