Troubleshooting Your Touchscreen (cont’d) CALIBRATION or LOCKUP PROBLEMS: • If the calibration is off over the whole area of the screen, recalibrate the screen. If this does not correct the problem, replace the touchscreen. • If the calibration is off in one area, check for scratches or nicks on the screen. If you detect scratches or nicks, replace the touchscreen. • If the screen loses calibration entirely, check the ground pin on the line cord.

Cut pieces of the supplied 1/2” double-sided foam tape long enough to cover each edge of the screen without overlapping. After the tape is in place on the screen, peel off the backing. 3.

Turn off and unplug the game. 2. Unlock and open the cash tower section. 3. Pull out the bill acceptor magazine. 4. Remove the 6 screws fastening the bill acceptor mounting plate to the CPU section. One screw also fastens the strain relief cord.

Remove the magazine from the new bill acceptor. 2. Reconnect the 2 wire connectors at the top and the bottom of the bill acceptor, with a gap left in between. The 10-pin connector should be plugged in above the 12-pin connector. See Figure 11. NOTE: The connectors MUST be installed in the proper slots.

Turn off and unplug the game. 2. Unlock and open the cash door. 3. Remove the coin box and remove the bill acceptor magazine from the game. 4. Remove the screw securing the coupler bracket but keep the cable(s) connected. This bracket only needs to be moved aside in order to access the screw underneath. See Figure 14.

Remove any money from the coin box, then remove the coin box and magazine stacker from the game. See Figure 15. 5. Rest the game facedown to access the base.

Turn off and unplug the game. 2. Unlock and remove the rear door of the game. 3. Loosen the 2 screws on the underside of the front control panel, then unlock and open the panel. 4. Follow the VGA monitor cable from the monitor to the electronics box under the control panel. Disconnect the cable and close the control panel.

Secure the wireless module bracket and wireless module to the side wall using the 2 existing screws. See Figure 5. 11. Reconnect the 2 speaker wire connectors located near the top of the monitor. Make sure to read the information in the Notes column to determine what is affected when performing these functions. After performing any DIP switch function, make sure to follow the instructions on the screen. In most cases, you will be instructed to reset the DIP switch in order to reboot the game.

If one of these does not match with Ion hardware, the game will power up and display “MAXX” on the screen and it will not have the H2H category.

Monitor Adjustment Procedure The vertical/horizontal controls and brightness/contrast controls are located on the OSD board, which is attached to Velcro inside the CPU section. Pressing the button labeled MENU on the control board will show the on-screen display on the monitor. Use the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to move through the menu. Press MENU again to select the option you want to change.

Issue: Merit has received field reports of intermittent touchscreen problems on some Ion games, which can make the calibration drift or result in missed touches. Our investigation into the matter revealed that a small number of games were manufactured in September 2005 without touchscreen insulation tape, which became necessary when our touchscreen supplier changed their manufacturing method.

Unlock and open the CPU section and place something in front of the game to brace the bezel once the strain relief cord is undone. 3. Remove the screw and washer fastening the strain relief cord, then remove the remaining 5 screws fastening the LCD mounting bracket to the game. The dongle socket ground wire will also be removed in the process. 4.

Re: I/O Board Replacement in Ion, Money Shoot, and Megatouch Champ Games When replacing the I/O board in an Ion, Money Shoot, or Megatouch Champ game, make sure the jumper settings on the I/O board is correct. JP8 JP17 JP13 JP12 • For EVO Ion, Elite Edge Ion, and Fusion Ion games the shunt must be in place at JP17.

The response of the touchscreen has also been reported in some instances to be slower during high-speed play. Games affected: Only games running Force 2006 and Ion 2006 software.

It is recommended that you use a DVD drive 12X or better that is capable of operating on an angled surface, as you may not always have a level surface on which to place the drive. Ion 2006 / Force 2003 / Maxx Ruby and greater DIP Switch 8 Function Motherboard configuration & checksum test Usage/Notes • Configures the CMOS settings on the motherboard to Merit specifications Checks the files on the hard drive. A checksum test should be performed when the game is locking up or rebooting while being played or while in the attract mode. If the test fails, the program should be reloaded onto the hard drive.

In response to operator feedback that software updates take too long, coupled with the inexpensive cost and increased reliability of DVDs, Merit has decided to make the switch to DVD technology.
