Installation / Finishing Instructions
Oak Doors and Drawer Fronts
With proper care, your doors and drawer fronts will deliver years of
beauty and enjoyment. They have been constructed of quality red oak
and will maintain their structural soundness through your daily use.
Whether re-facing your existing cabinets or creating your own
project, please note the following instructions and suggestions:
1) Before installation and finishing, allow the material to acclimate for at least
24 hours under normal conditions at the installation location.
2) For re-facing existing cabinets, first remove all doors and drawers, repair
front frames as needed including screw holes. You can apply Hot Melt Red
Oak Veneer (sku#125-7124) to the frames for a fresh look.
3) The surface is pre-sanded at the factory, however before applying your finish
we recommend that you sand all raw wood products using a 220 or higher
grit sandpaper. This will help insure a smooth and clean surface free from
grease or other contaminants for a more even finish.
4) Finish all doors and drawer fronts on all 6 sides. You may consider using a
sealer prior to applying stain if required. For more finishing suggestions see
your local Menards paint department.
5) After applying the finish and allowing appropriate time to cure, mark the
position of hinge screws and predrill holes for screws. Failure to predrill
holes may result in cracking. Screw hinges to door.
6) Hold the door to cabinet frame and mark position of the hinge screws on
frame. Predrill holes and screw hinges to cabinet frame.
7) Use double-sided tape to position drawer fronts to the drawer box on the
cabinet and secure the front to the box with screws.
8) Add your desired door and drawer pulls to finish your project.
