SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS General Instructions – To ensure correct operation, user has to read this instruction manual to make himself familiar with the handling of the Petrol Brushcutter. Users insufficiently informed will risk danger to themselves as well as others due to improper handling. – It is recommended only to lend the Petrol Brushcutter to people who have proven to be experienced with Petrol Brushcutters. Always hand over the instruction manual.
Start the Petrol Brushcutter only in accordance with the instructions. – Do not use any other methods for starting the engine! – Use the Petrol Brushcutter and the tools only for such applications as specified. – Only start the Petrol Brushcutter engine, after the entire assembly is done. Operation of the device is only permitted after all the appropriate accessories are attached! – Before starting make sure that the cutting tool has no contact with hard objects such as branches, stones etc.
Method of operation – Only use the Petrol Brushcutter in good light and visibility. During the winter season beware of slippery or wet areas, ice and snow (risk of slipping). Always ensure a safe footing. – Never cut above waist height. – Never stand on a ladder and run the Petrol Brushcutter. – Never climb up into trees to perform cutting operation with the Petrol Brushcutter. – Never work on unstable surfaces. – Remove sand, stones, nails etc. found within the working range.
Never straighten or weld damaged cutting tools. – Operate the Petrol Brushcutter with as little noise and contamination as possible. In particular check the correct setting of the carburetor. – Clean the Petrol Brushcutter at regular intervals and check that all screws and nuts are well tightened. – Never service or store the Petrol Brushcutter in the vicinity of naked flames. – Always store the Petrol Brushcutter in locked rooms and with an emptied fuel tank.

MOUNTING OF HANDLE CAUTION: Before doing any work on the Petrol Brushcutter, always stop the engine and pull the spark plug connector off the spark plug. Always wear protective gloves! CAUTION: Start the Petrol Brushcutter only after having assembled it completely. For machines with bike handle models – Loosen knob (1). (1) – Place handle (4) between handle clamp (2) and handle holder (3).
MOUNTING OF PROTECTOR To meet the applicable safety provisions, only the tool/ protector combinations as indicated in the table must be used. Be sure to use genuine MAKITA cutter blades or nylon cutting head. Protector for metal blades Metal blade – The cutter blade must be well polished, free of cracks or breakage. If the cutter blade hits against a stone during operation, stop the engine and check the blade immediately. – Polish or replace the cutter blade every three hours of operation.
MOUNTING OF CUTTER BLADE OR NYLON CUTTING HEAD Turn the machine upside down, and you can replace the cutter blade or nylon cutting head easily. – Insert the hex wrench through the hole in the gear case and rotate the receiver washer (4) until it is locked with the hex wrench. (4) Hex wrench – Loosen the nut (1) (left-hand thread) with the socket wrench and remove the nut (1), cup (2), and clamp washer (3).
BEFORE START OF OPERATION Inspection and refill of engine oil – Perform the following procedure, with the engine cooled down. – Set the engine level, remove oil cap (Fig. 1), and check to see whether or not there is oil in the range between the upper limit and lower limit marks of the oil pipe (Fig. 2). – Top up with oil to upper limit mark if oil is insufficient (oil level is close to lower limit mark) (Fig. 3).
● Do not replace oil with the engine in a tilted position. Note ● Filling with oil while engine is tilted leads to overfilling which causes oil contamination and/or white smoke. Point 2 in Replacement of oil: “If oil spills out” – If oil spills out between the fuel tank and engine main unit, the oil is sucked into through the cooling air intake port, which will contaminate the engine. Be sure to wipe out spilt oil before start of operation.
CORRECT HANDLING OF MACHINE Attachment of shoulder strap – Adjust the strap length so that the cutter blade will be kept parallel with the ground. Buckle For EM2650UH, EM2651UH NOTE: Be careful not to trap clothing, etc., in the buckle. EM2650UH EM2651UH Detachment For EM2650LH, EM2651LH – In an emergency, push the notches (1) at both sides, and you can detach the machine from you. Be extremely careful to maintain control of the machine at this time.
3) Primer pump Continue to push the primer pump until fuel enters into the primer pump. (In general, fuel enters into the primer pump by 7 to 10 pushes.) If the primer pump is pushed excessively, an excess of gasoline returns to the fuel tank. Replacing the nylon cord – First, stop the engine. – Press on the housing latches inward to lift off the cover, then remove the spool. Cover Latches Press – Hook the center of new nylon cord into the notch in the center of the spool, with one end of the cord extending about 80 mm (3 - 1/8”) more than the other. Then wind both ends firmly around the spool in the direction of the head rotation (left-hand direction indicated by LH and right-hand direction by RH on the side of the spool).
SERVICING INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: Before doing any work on the Petrol Brushcutter, always stop the engine and pull the plug cap off the spark plug (see “checking the spark plug”). Always wear protective gloves! To ensure a long service life and to avoid any damage to the equipment, the following servicing operations should be performed at regular intervals. Daily checkup and maintenance – Before operation, check the machine for loose screws or missing parts.
5) Set the engine level, and gradually fill up to upper limit mark with new oil. External mark (upper limit) 6) After filling, tightly secure oil cap, so that it will not loosen and cause leaks. CHECKING THE SPARK PLUG – Only use the supplied universal wrench to remove or to install the spark plug. – The gap between the two electrodes of the spark plug should be 0.7 - 0.8 mm (0.028” - 0.032”). If the gap is too wide or too narrow, adjust it. If the spark plug is clogged or contaminated, clean it thoroughly or replace it. CAUTION: Never touch the spark plug connector while the engine is running (danger of high voltage electric shock). 0.7 mm - 0.8 mm (0.028” - 0.
STORAGE WARNING: When draining the fuel, be sure to stop the engine and confirm that the engine cools down. Just after stopping the engine, it may still hot with possibility of burns, inflammability and fire. ATTENTION: W hen the machine is kept out of operation for a long time, drain up all fuel from the fuel tank and carburetor, and keep it at a dry and clean place.

MONTAGE DE LA POIGNÉE ATTENTION : Avant de faire un travail quelconque sur la débroussailleuse thermique, il faut toujours arrêter le moteur et débrancher le connecteur des bougies. Portez toujours des gants de protection ! ATTENTION : Démarrez la débroussailleuse thermique uniquement après l’avoir entièrement montée. Pour les modèles d’outils avec poignées de vélo (1) – Devissez le bouton (1). (2) – Placez la poignée (4) entre le boulon de serrage (2) et le support de poignée (3).
MONTAGE DU DISPOSITIF DE PROTECTION Pour répondre aux instructions de sécurité applicables, seules les combinaisons d’outil/protections indiquées dans le tableau doivent être utilisées. Utilisez toujours des couteaux ou têtes à fil de nylon d’origine MAKITA. Dispositif de protection pour les lames métalliques Lame métallique – Le couteau doit être bien aiguisé, et sans fissures ou cassures. Si le couteau heurte une pierre durant l’utilisation, arrêtez le moteur et vérifiez le couteau immédiatement.
MONTAGE DU COUTEAU OU DE LA TÊTE À FIL EN NYLON Tournez la machine la tête en bas pour pouvoir remplacer le couteau ou la tête à fil de nylon facilement. – Insérez la clé hexagonale à travers le trou dans la boîte d’engrenage et tournez la rondelle de réception (4) jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit verrouillée avec la clé hexagonale. (4) Clé hexagonale – Desserrez l’écrou (1) (filetage gauche) avec la clé à douille, et enlevez l’écrou (1), la bague (2) et la rondelle de serrage (3).
AVANT DE COMMENCER Inspection et remplissage d’huile moteur – Suivez la procédure suivante, lorsque le moteur est froid. – Mettez le moteur à plat, retirez le bouchon d’huile (Illustration 1) et vérifiez l’éventuelle présence d’huile dans la zone comprise entre la limite supérieure et la limite inférieure du tuyau d’huile (Ill. 2). – Remplissez d’huile jusqu’à la limite supérieure si le niveau d’huile est insuffisant (le niveau d’huile est proche de la limite inférieure) (Ill. 3).
Remarque ● Lors du changement d’huile, veillez à ne pas incliner le moteur. ● Si le moteur est incliné lors du changement d’huile, vous risquez de trop remplir le réservoir et ainsi de contaminer l’huile et/ou de faire apparaître de la fumée blanche.
MANIEMENT CORRECT DE LA MACHINE Fixation du harnais – Réglez la longueur de sangle de sorte que le couteau soit maintenu parallèle au sol. Boucle Pour les modèles EM2650UH et EM2651UH REMARQUE : Veillez à ne pas coincer de vêtement ou autre dans la boucle. EM2650UH EM2651UH Détachement Pour les modèles EM2650LH et EM2651LH – En cas d’urgence, appuyez sur les fentes (1) des deux côtés pour vous séparer de la machine. Faites très attention de conserver le contrôle de la machine à ce moment-là.
3) Pompe d’amorçage Continuez à appuyer sur la pompe d’amorçage jusqu’à ce que le carburant pénètre dans la pompe d’amorçage. (En général, le carburant pénètre dans la pompe d’amorçage après 7 à 10 pressions.) Si vous appuyez trop sur la pompe d’amorçage, un surplus de carburant retournera au réservoir d’essence. Pompe d’amorçage Carburateur 4) Démarreur Tirez doucement le bouton de démarrage, jusqu’à ce qu’il résiste (point de compression).
ARRÊT 1) Relâchez entièrement le levier d’étrangleur (2), et lorsque la vitesse de rotation du moteur a diminé, poussez l’interrupteur I-O sur la position STOP, et le moteur s’arrêtera. 2) Attention, il est possible que le couteau ne s’arrête pas immédiatement, laissez-le ralentir jusqu’à l’arrêt.
Remplacement du fil en nylon – D’abord, arrêtez le moteur. – Appuyez sur les attaches du bloc principal pour les enfoncer afin d’enlever le capot, puis retirez la bobine. Capot Attaches Appuyez – Accrochez le centre du nouveau fil de nylon dans la fente située au centre de la bobine, en laissant dépasser une extrémité du fil d’environ 80 mm (3 - 1/8”) de plus que l’autre.
INSTRUCTIONS D’ENTRETIEN ATTENTION : Avant tout travail sur la débroussailleuse thermique, il faut toujours arrêter le moteur et débrancher le connecteur des bougies (voir « Vérification de la bougie »). Portez toujours des gants de protection ! Afin d’assurer une longue durée de vie et d’éviter un dommage quelconque damage à l’équipement, effectuez régulièrement les opérations de maintenance suivantes.
5) Mettez le moteur à plat et remplissez progressivement le réservoir d’huile neuve jusqu’à la limite supérieure. 6) Après avoir procédé au remplissage, fermez bien le bouchon d’huile afin qu’il ne se desserre pas et ne provoque pas de fuite. Si le bouchon d’huile n’est pas bien serré, il risque de fuir.
VÉRIFICATION DE LA BOUGIE – N’utilisez que la clé universelle fournie pour enlever ou installer la bougie. – L’écartement entre les deux électrodes de la bougie devrait être de 0,7 à 0,8 mm (0,028” à 0,032”). ENTREPOSAGE ATTENTION : P our vidanger l’essence, veillez à arrêter le moteur et à vous assurer que le moteur ait refroidi. Juste après l’arrêt du moteur, il peut encore être chaud et provoquer des brûlures ou un incendie. ATTENTION : L orsque vous prévoyez de ne pas utiliser la machine pendant une longue période, vidangez le réservoir d’essence et le carburateur, et entreposez-le dans un endroit sec et propre.

VEILIGHEIDSINSTRUCTIES Algemene instructies – Voor een correcte gebruik dient de gebruiker deze gebruiksaanwijzing te lezen om zichzelf bekend te maken met de juiste manier van omgaan met de benzinebosmaaier. Gebruikers die onvoldoende geïnformeerd zijn, lopen de kans zichzelf en anderen in gevaar te brengen als gevolg van onjuist omgaan met de benzinebosmaaier.
Start de benzinebosmaaier alleen in overeenstemming met de instructies. – Gebruik geen enkele andere methode om de motor te starten! – Gebruik de benzinebosmaaier en de gereedschappen uitsluitend voor de beschreven toepassingen. – Start de motor van de benzinebosmaaier alleen nadat deze volledig is gemonteerd.

DE HANDGREEP MONTEREN LET OP: Voordat u werkzaamheden uitvoert aan de benzinebosmaaier, moet u altijd de motor uitschakelen en de bougiekap van de bougie aftrekken. Draag altijd veiligheidshandschoenen! LET OP: Start de benzinebosmaaier pas nadat deze geheel in elkaar is gezet. Voor gereedschappen met een fietsstuur-type handgreep – Draai knop (1) los. (1) – Plaats de handgreep (4) tussen de handgreepklem (2) en de handgreepvoet (3).
DE BESCHERMKAP MONTEREN In naleving van de toepasselijke veiligheidsregels mogen uitsluitend de gereedschap/beschermkap-combinaties worden gebruikt die in de afbeelding worden aangegeven. Verzeker u ervan uitsluitend originele snijbladen of nylondraad-maaikoppen van MAKITA te gebruiken. Beschermkap voor metalen snijblad Metalen snijblad – Het snijblad moet goed geslepen zijn en vrij zijn van barsten of breuken.
HET SNIJGARNITUUR MONTEREN Draai het gereedschap ondersteboven zodat u het metalen snijblad of de nylondraad-maaikop gemakkelijk kunt vervangen. – Steek de inbussleutel in de opening van het tandwielhuis en draai de ontvangerring (4) met de inbussleutel tot deze vergrendeld wordt. (4) Inbussleutel – Maak de moer (1) (met linksdraaiend schroefdraad) los met de dopsleutel en verwijder de moer (1), de beker (2) en de klemring (3).
VÓÓR HET BEGIN VAN HET WERK Controleren en bijvullen van de motorolie – Voer de volgende procedure uit bij koude motor. – Plaats de motor horizontaal, draai de olievuldop eraf (zie afb. 1) en controleer of het oliepeil tussen de inwendige randen voor de boven- en ondergrens van het oliepeil staat (zie afb. 2). – Vul motorolie bij tot aan de markering van de bovengrens als er te weinig motorolie in zit (het oliepeil is dicht bij de ondergrens) (zie afb. 3).
Opmerking ● Ververs de olie niet terwijl de motor in een gekantelde stand staat. ● Olie bijvullen terwijl de motor gekanteld is, leidt tot te veel bijvullen waardoor olievervuiling en/of witte rook ontstaat. Tip 2 bij het verversen van de olie: “Olielekkage” – Als olie eruit lekt tussen de brandstoftank en het motorblok, wordt de olie via de koelluchtinlaatopening naar binnen gezogen waardoor de motor verontreinigd raakt. Veeg gelekte olie af voordat u met het werk begint.
CORRECTE HANTERING De schouderriem bevestigen – Pas de lengte van de schouderriem zo aan, dat het snijblad parallel aan de grond kan worden gehouden. Gesp Voor de modellen EM2650UH en EM2651UH OPMERKING: Wees voorzichtig dat kleding, enz. niet verstrikt raakt in de gesp. EM2650UH EM2651UH Losmaken Voor de modellen EM2650LH en EM2651LH – In geval van nood, druk de knoppen (1) aan beide zijkanten in zodat het gereedschap los komt van uw lichaam.
3) Brandstofhandpomp Blijf op de brandstofhandpomp drukken tot de brandstof in de brandstofhandpomp stroomt. (Over het algemeen stroomt de brandstof in de brandstofhandpomp na 7 tot 10 keer duwen.) Als te vaak op de brandstofhandpomp wordt gedrukt, vloeit het overschot aan brandstof terug naar de brandstoftank. Brandstofhandpomp Carburator 4) Trekstartinrichting Trek voorzichtig aan de trekstarthandgreep tot u weerstand voelt (compressiepunt).
STOPPEN 1) Laat de gashendel (2) volledig los en, nadat het motortoerental is afgenomen, duw de stopschakelaar (1) naar de stand “STOP” om de motor uit te schakelen. 2) Bedenk dat het snijgarnituur wellicht niet onmiddellijk stopt en laat het volledig uitdraaien.
De nylondaad vervangen – Schakel eerst de motor uit. – Druk de lippen van de behuizing naar binnen om de afdekking eraf te tillen en verwijder vervolgens de draadspoel. Deksel Vergrendelnokken Drukken – Haak het midden van de totale lengte van de nieuwe nylondraad in het midden van de draadspoel en zorg ervoor dat één uiteinde ongeveer 80 mm (3 - 1/8”) langer is dan het andere.
ONDERHOUDSINSTRUCTIES LET OP: Voordat u werkzaamheden uitvoert aan de benzinebosmaaier, moet u altijd de motor uitschakelen en de bougiekap van de bougie aftrekken (zie “De bougie controleren”). Draag altijd veiligheidshandschoenen! Om een lange levensduur te garanderen en eventuele schade aan het gereedschap te voorkomen, moeten de volgende onderhoudswerkzaamheden regelmatig uitgevoerd worden.
5) Plaats de motor horizontaal en vul geleidelijk nieuwe motorolie bij tot aan de markering van de bovengrens. 6) Draai na het bijvullen de olievuldop stevig vast, zodat deze niet kan losraken en gaan lekken. Als de olievuldop niet stevig wordt vastgedraaid, kan deze gaan lekken.
DE BOUGIE CONTROLEREN – Gebruik alleen de bijgeleverde moersleutel om de bougie te verwijderen of te installeren. – De afstand tussen de twee elektroden van de bougie moet 0,7 tot 0,8 mm (0,028” - 0,032”) bedragen. Als de afstand te groot of te klein is, moet u deze aanpassen. Als de elektroden van de bougie verstopt of vervuild zijn, moet u deze grondig schoonmaken of de bougie vervangen. LET OP: Raak de bougiekap nooit aan terwijl de motor draait (gevaar op elektrische schok door hoogspanning).
OPSLAG WAARSCHUWING: C ontroleer of de motor is uitgeschakeld en afgekoeld voordat u begint met het aftappen van de brandstof. Vlak na het uitschakelen van de motor, is deze nog heet en kan brandwonden, ontbranding en brand veroorzaken. LET OP: Als het gereedschap gedurende een lange tijd niet gebruikt gaat worden, tapt u alle brandstof uit de brandstoftank en carburator, en slaat u het op een droge, schone plaats op.

PROBLEMEN OPLOSSEN Alvorens een verzoek voor reparatie in te dienen, controleer u de storing zelf aan de hand van de onderstaande tabel. Als een probleem is gevonden, repareert u het gereedschap aan de hand van de beschrijvingen in deze gebruiksaanwijzing. Probeer nooit enig onderdeel te demonteren of repareren in strijd met de beschrijvingen. Voor reparatie neemt u contact op met een erkend servicecentrum of uw plaatselijke dealer.
