Solution:
–EnsurethatWakeOnLANisenabledinThinkPadSetup.
–Ifithasbeenenabled,checkwithyourLANadministratorforthenecessarysettings.
•Problem:IfyourcomputerisaGigabitEthernetmodel,itcannotconnecttothenetworkat1000Mbps.
Instead,itconnectsat100Mbps.
Solution:
–Tryanothercable.
–Ensurethatthelinkpartnerissettoauto-negotiate.
–Ensurethattheswitchis802.3ab-compliant(gigabitovercopper).
AwirelessLANproblem
Problem:Youcannotconnecttothenetworkusingthebuilt-inwirelessnetworkcard.
Solution:Ensurethat:
•YourwirelessLANdriveristhelatestversion.
•Yourcomputeriswithinrangeofawirelessaccesspoint.
•TheAirplanemodeisturnedoff.
ChecktheNetworkName(SSID)andyourencryptioninformation.
AwirelessWANproblem
Problem:AmessageisdisplayedindicatingthatanunauthorizedWANcardisinstalled.
Solution:TheWANcardisnotsupportedonthiscomputer.Removeit.
Note:Dependingonyourcomputer,somemodelsdonothaveawirelessWANcard.
Bluetoothproblems
•Problem:SounddoesnotcomefromtheBluetoothheadset/headphonebutcomesfromthelocal
speakereventhoughtheBluetoothheadset/headphoneisconnectedusingaHeadsetproleorAVprole.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
1.Exittheapplicationthatusesthesounddevice(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).
2.Movethecursortothetop-rightorbottom-rightcornerofthescreentodisplaythecharms.Click
Settings➙ControlPanel.
3.ClickHardwareandSound➙Sound➙Playback.
4.IfyouareusingaHeadsetprole,selectBluetoothHands-freeAudioandclicktheSetDefault
button.IfyouareusinganAVprole,selectStereoAudioandclicktheSetDefaultbutton.
5.ClickOKtoclosetheSoundwindow.
•Problem:PIMitemssentfromtheWindows8operatingsystemscannotbereceivedcorrectlyintothe
addressbookofanyotherBluetooth-enableddevice.
