Powermanagement
Therearethreepowermanagementmodestoreducepowerconsumption:screenblank,sleep,and
hibernation.
Screenblankmode
Toputthecomputerintoscreenblankmode,right-clickthebatterygaugefromtheWindowsnotication
areaandselectPoweroffdisplay(keepcurrentpowerplan).
Toendscreenblankmodeandresumenormaloperation,pressanykey.
Sleepmode
Whenthecomputerenterssleepmode,thefollowingeventsoccurinadditiontowhatoccursinscreen
blankmode:
•TheLCDispoweredoff.
•Theharddiskdriveispoweredoff.
•Themicroprocessorstops.
Ifa“suspendtime”hasbeensetonthetimer,andtheuserdoesnotdoanyoperationwiththekeyboard,the
TrackPoint
®
,theharddisk,theparallelconnector,orthediskettedrivewithinthattime,thecomputergoes
intosleepmodeautomatically:
Note:Evenifyoudonotsetthelow-batteryalarm,thechargeindicatornotiesyouwhenthebatteryislow,
andthenthecomputerentersthepower-savingmodeautomatically.
Tocausethecomputertoreturnfromsleepmodeandresumeoperation,dooneofthefollowing:
•PresstheFnkey.
•OpentheLCDcover.
•Pressthepowerbutton.
Also,ineitherofthefollowingevents,thecomputerautomaticallyreturnsfromsleepmodeandresumes
operation:
•Theringindicator(RI)issignaledbyaserialdeviceoraPCCarddevice.
•Thetimesetontheresumetimerelapses.
Note:Thecomputerdoesnotacceptanyinputimmediatelyafteritenterssleepmode.Waitafew
secondsbeforetakinganyactiontoreenteroperationmode.
