Selectingastartupdevice
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotstartupfromadevicesuchasthediscorharddiskdriveasexpected,dooneof
thefollowingtoselectthestartupdeviceyouwant.
Selectingatemporarystartupdevice
Usethisproceduretoselectatemporarystartupdevice.
Note:Notalldiscsandharddiskdrivesarebootable.
1.Turnoffyourcomputer.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningonthecomputer.WhenthePleaseselect
bootdevicewindowdisplays,releasetheF12key.
3.SelectthedesiredstartupdeviceandpressEnter.Thecomputerwillstartupfromthedeviceyou
selected.
Note:SelectingastartupdevicefromthePleaseselectbootdevicewindowdoesnotpermanentlychange
thestartupsequence.
Selectingorchangingthestartupdevicesequence
Tovieworpermanentlychangetheconfiguredstartupdevicesequence,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage81.
2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectStartup.
3.SelectthedevicesforthePrimaryStartupSequence,theAutomaticStartupSequence,andtheError
StartupSequence.Readtheinformationdisplayedontherightsideofthescreen.
4.PressF10tosavechangesandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.See“ExitingtheSetupUtilityprogram”
onpage86.
EnablingErPcompliancemode
Youcanenabletheenergy-relatedproductsdirective(ErP)compliancemodethroughthePowermenuinthe
SetupUtilityprogramtoreducetheconsumptionofelectricitywhenyourcomputerisinstandbyoroffmode.
ToenableErPcompliancemodeintheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage81.
2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectPower➙EnhancedPowerSavingMode,and
pressEnter.
3.SelectEnabledandpressEnter.
4.FromthePowermenu,selectAutomaticPowerOnandpressEnter.
5.SelectWakeonLanandpressEnter.
6.SelectDisabledandpressEnter.
7.PressF10tosavechangesandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.PressEnterwhenpromptedtoconfirm
theexit.
Note:WhenErPcompliancemodeisenabled,youcanwakeupyourcomputerbydoingoneofthefollowing:
•Pressingthepowerswitch
