12.24 Removing the air filter
Note
Engine damage Unfiltered intake air has a negative effect on the service life of the engine.
Dust and dirt will enter the engine without an air filter.
– Never start to use the vehicle without an air filter.
Warning
Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.
– Dispose of oils, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning agents, brake fluid, etc., correctly and in compliance with the applicable regu-
lations.
Preparatory work
– Remove the air filter box cover. ( p. 62)

Detach retaining tab
. Remove air filter with air filter support.
– Remove air filter from air filter support.

12.26 Cleaning the air filter and air filter box

Do not clean the air filter with fuel or petroleum since these substances attack the foam.
