The selection of raw materials that KEMET uses for the production of its electronic components is the result of extensive
experience.KEMETdirectsspecicattentiontowardenvironmentalprotection.KEMETselectsitssuppliersaccordingto
ISO9001standardsandperformsstatisticalanalysesonrawmaterialsbeforeacceptanceforuseinmanufacturingour
electroniccomponents.Allmaterialsare,tothebestofKEMET’sknowledge,non-toxicandfreefromcadmium;mercury;
chromeandcompounds;polychlorinetriphenyl(PCB);bromideandchlorinedioxinsbromurateclorurate;CFCandHCFC;
andasbestos.
Dissipation Factor
Dissipationfactorisacomplexfunctioninvolvedwithcapacitorineciency.Thetgδmayvaryupanddownwithincreased

Sealing
Hermetically Sealed Capacitors
As the temperature increases, the pressure inside the capacitor increases. If the internal pressure is high enough, it can
causeabreachinthecapacitor.Suchabreachcanresultinleakage,impregnation,llinguid,ormoisturesusceptibility.
Barometric Pressure
Thealtitudeatwhichhermeticallysealedcapacitorsareoperatedcontrolsthecapacitor'svoltagerating.Asthebarometric
pressuredecreases,thesusceptibilitytoterminalarc-overincreases.Non-hermeticcapacitorscanbeaffectedbyinternal
stressesduetopressurechanges.Theseeffectscanbeintheformofcapacitancechanges,dielectricarc-over,and/orlow
insulationresistance.Altitudecanalsoaffectheattransfer.Heatthatisgeneratedinanoperationcannotbedissipated
properly, and high RI

losses and eventual failure can result.
