CONTROLS
.
When operating in temperatures below 32˚ F.
(0˚ C.), use fresh, clean winter grade gasoline
to help insure good cold weather starting.
Choke Control (All Models)
The choke control is used for cold starts in order
to provide the engine with a richer fuel mixture.
For cold starts the throttle lever should be
pushed all the way forward past "FAST"
position to "CHOKE" position. Once engine
has warmed pull throttle lever rearward to
"FAST" (run) position.
Throttle Control (All Models)
The throttle control regulates the engine
speed and thereby the rate of rotation of the
blades. In order to increase or decrease the
engine speed, the control is moved forward or
backward respectively.
Avoid idling the engine for long periods, as
there is a risk of fouling the spark plugs.
USE FULL THROTTLE WHEN MOWING, for
best mower performance.
WARNING!
Gasoline is highly flammable.
Observe caution and fill the
tank outdoors
(see the safety rules).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Experience indicates that alcohol
blended fuels (called gasohol, ethanol or
methanol) can attract moisture which
leads to separation and formation of
acids during storage. Acidic gas can
damage the fuel system of an engine
while in storage. To avoid engine
problems, the fuel system should be
emptied before storage of 30 days or
longer. Drain the gas tank, start the
engine and let it run until the fuel lines
and carburetor are empty. Use fresh fuel
the next season. See Storage
Instructions for additional information.
Never use engine or carburetor cleaners
in the fuel tank or permanent damage
may occur.
WARNING!
Fill to bottom of filler neck. Do
not overfill. Wipe off any
spilled oil or fuel. Do not store,
spill or use gasoline near an
open flame.
