Hearing Aid Compatibility Information
This phone has been tested and rated for use with hearing
aids for some of the wireless technologies that it uses.
However, there may be some newer wireless technologies
used in this phone that have not been tested yet for use with
hearing aids. It is important to try the different features of
this phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your
hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determine if you hear
any interfering noise. Consult your service provider or the
manufacturer of this phone for information on hearing aid
compatibility. If you have questions about return or exchange
policies, consult your service provider or phone retailer.
Keeping Things in Sync
It’s easy to get your photos, videos, music,
documents, and more from your computer
to your phone (and vice versa).
If You Have a Windows 8 PC:
Plug your phone into your computer with
the cable, and the Windows Phone app will
install automatically.
If You Have a Windows 7 PC:
Plug your phone into your computer with
the cable. A link will appear to install the
Windows Phone app.
If You Have a Mac:
Get the Windows Phone app from the Mac
App Store.

Location Based Services
This phone can determine its location,
which is useful for services such as 911,
navigation, shopping and weather. Your
phone is defaulted to acquire your location.
To use Location Based Services, go to
Settings > location.
Your wireless device can determine its (and your)
physical, geographical location (“Location Information”)
and can associate Location Information with other data.
Additionally, certain applications, services and programs
are capable of accessing, collecting, storing and using
Location Information and disclosing Location Information
to others. You should use caution when determining
whether or not Location Information should be made
available to others and you should review any applicable
third party policies before providing access. To limit
potential unauthorized access to your Location Information,
Verizon Wireless offers various mechanisms and settings
to manage access to location data. By enabling location
settings you are permitting third party access to Location
Information through software, widgets or peripheral
components you choose to download, add or attach to
your wireless device or through web access, messaging
capabilities or other means and you are authorizing
Verizon Wireless to collect, use and disclose your Location
Information as appropriate to provide you with any location
services that you enabled.
NFC
Near Field Communication (NFC) lets you get
things done just by tapping your phone on
NFC touchpoints—quickly pair compatible
Bluetooth accessories, or open a website
featured on an advertising poster without
typing the web address, and lots more.
Important: Before using NFC, you must enable Bluetooth.
NFC on your phone is on by default.
Sharing What’s On Your Screen Using NFC
1. Open a photo, contact information, or
webpage that you want to share.
2. Tap > share or share contact or
share page > Tap+Send.
3. Place your phone back to back with
another phone that has Windows
Phone 8 and NFC to start sharing.
Wireless Charging
Charge cable-free. The phone’s back cover
allows convenient battery charging on a
compatible wireless charging mat (sold
separately). Contact Verizon Wireless for
details and compatibility.
Internet Explorer
On the Start screen, tap the Internet
Explorer tile to start surng the web.
You can open up to six browser tabs.
Beats by Dr. Dre Audio™
Beats Audio™ integration gives you a rich,
authentic sound experience, whether you’re
listening to music, watching a video, or
playing a game. To enjoy Beats Audio, just
plug in your headset.
People Hub
Bring your friends, family and colleagues
together from multiple social networks into
one central place.
Viewing Contacts List and Feeds
Tap the People tile on the Start screen.
If you’re signed in to your Microsoft
account and/or Facebook accounts, swipe
to the left to see updates from your friends.
HTC Hub
Check out the weather forecast, stocks and
financial market trends, and the latest news
around the globe.
Tap the HTC hub tile on the Start screen to
begin.
Play it up with music, apps and games.
Keep up with twitter and Facebook.

Installing Apps
More than one hundred thousand apps are
available to download from the Store.
From the Start screen, tap to access the
Store.
Play a Game
Xbox LIVE, the gaming service from
Microsoft, lets you play games with your
friends and use your gamer profile to keep
track of scores and achievements. Through
Games Hub, you can do this on your phone.

BING Search
No matter where you are on the phone,
you can always search with Bing by
pressing . Just type whatever you’re
looking for in the search box, then tap
on the on-screen keyboard. Bing will show
you not only the web results, but also
local results (including maps, ratings, and
directions) and images.
Making a Call
1. On the Start screen, tap .
2. Tap to open the keypad.
3. Enter the number you want to call and
then tap call.
Receiving a Call
When you receive a phone call, the Incoming
call screen appears.
• Tap answer.
• Or if the display is off and wakes up
when you get a call, slide up from the
bottom to unlock the screen first and
then tap answer.
Bluetooth
1. On the Start screen, flick to the left,
and then tap Settings > Bluetooth.
2. Tap the On/Off switch to turn
Bluetooth on.
3. Tap the name of the accessory that
you want to pair with your phone.
When the accessory is connected
to your phone, the Bluetooth icon
appears on the status bar.
Set Up Voice Mail
On the Start screen, tap . Dial

Access Voice Mail

NOTE: Voice mailboxes not set up within 45 days will be
canceled. Your voice mailbox is not password protected
until you create a password by following the setup tutorial.
Visual Voice Mail
View a list of messages without dialing into
a mailbox. Listen or erase with the touch of
a button.
To subscribe to Visual Voice Mail, tap
on the Start screen and follow the screen
prompts.
Entering Text
When you start an app or select a field
that requires text or numbers, the
on-screen keyboard becomes available.
Apps & More Important Information
After entering your text, press to close
the keyboard. Tap a text field again to
show the keyboard.
Live Tiles
Arrange your Start screen how you want it
and make it easy to see everything that’s
going on with the people and passions in
your life, real-time. You can size your Live
Tiles however you like, making your phone
as unique as you are.
Rearranging, Resizing, and Unpinning Tiles
1. Press and hold a tile.
2. To move, drag the tile
where you want it to go.
3. To resize, tap the arrow
button.
4. To unpin from the Start screen, tap .
5. When you’re done moving or resizing
tiles, press or .
Pinning Items to the Start Screen
You can pin just about anything you want
to the Start screen: apps, websites, map
locations, pictures, songs, shortcuts, and
even contacts.
To pin something, let’s say a contact, to
the Start screen, press and hold it until a
menu appears, and then tap pin to start.
Ringtones
1. On the Start screen, slide to the left.
2. Tap Settings > ringtones+sounds.
3. Tap the Ringtone box.
4. Listen to a ringtone by tapping the
play icon beside its name.
5. Tap the ringtone you want to use.
Taking and Sharing Photos
1. Press the Camera button on the
bottom right side of the phone.
2. Choose your camera settings.
• Tap to set the flash.
• Tap to switch to the ultra wide
angle front camera.
• Tap to select or download
lenses.
• Tap > photo settings to choose
the resolution you want to use.
3. Hold your phone steady, either
vertically or horizontally.
4. Pinch or spread your fingers across
the screen to zoom in and out on your
subject.
5. Press the Camera button halfway to
focus, and then press the button all
the way down to take the photo.
6. Tap > > share.
7. Select how you want to share the
photo.
