Software Manual

If you release the XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair created in step 2, the XP Continuous
Access Journal pair created in step 6 will be released as well. In addition, if you release the XP
Continuous Access Journal pair created in step 4, the secondary data volume of the XP Continuous
Access Journal pair created in step 6 will be deleted. In this case, you can only perform the deleting
operation on the remaining primary data volume.
For detailed information about installing and using XP Continuous Access Synchronous, see the
HP XP24000/XP20000 XP Continuous Access Software User and Reference Guide.
For detailed information about XP Continuous Access Journal journal group configurations, see
“Journal Group Operations” (page 23). For detailed information about port configurations, see
“Configuring Port Attributes” (page 144).
Requirements for Creating an XP Continuous Access Journal Pair for the Delta Resync Operation
To create an XP Continuous Access Journal pair for the delta resync operation, you must perform
the following tasks:
Create the pair in the 3DC multi-target configuration.
Do not include the 3DC multi-target configuration in the system that consists of multiple primary
and secondary storage systems.
Use XP Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL in PAIR status as the primary data volume.
Use XP Continuous Access Journal data volume in PAIR status as the secondary data volume.
Use the mirror ID from 1 to 3 that is not used by the secondary data volume.
Fulfill the conditions to combine XP Continuous Access Journal with other functions in “Whether
Non-XP Continuous Access Journal Volumes Can Be Used as XP Continuous Access Journal
Volumes” (page 72).
Set the system option mode 506 to ON at all sites.
In addition to the above-mentioned requirements, all XP Continuous Access Journal pairs in the
journal group must satisfy the following requirements when you create more than one XP Continuous
Access Journal pair for the delta resync operation:
Use the same mirror ID for all pairs.
Use the same restore journal group for all pairs.
For the most current information on the availability of the delta resync operation, contact HP
technical support.
Requirements for Performing the Delta Resync Operation
Before performing delta resync operations, specify an XP Continuous Access Journal pair that
belongs to the journal group whose XP Continuous Access Journal pairs meet the following
requirements:
Status of the primary data volume is HOLD.
Using the volume of XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair as the primary data volume:
If you use XP Continuous Access Synchronous P-VOL, the pair status should be PAIR.
If you use XP Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL, the pair status should be SSWS.
Check the pair status after executing the RAID Manager horctakeover command
Secondary data volume uses two mirror IDs; the status of the secondary volume that uses one
of the two mirror IDs is HOLD, and the status of the secondary volume that uses another mirror
ID is PAIR, PSUS, or PSUE.
All differential data between the primary and secondary data volumes is stored in the master
journal group.
