Manual

default, the
WBEM port used by Performance Essentials is 8888 for NonStop agents
and 443 for Linux agents. The user should not use this port number configuration to
specify which port Performance Essentials is running. After the credentials have been
supplied the user should click “OK” and then click “Save”. A new entry should be
created in the Discovery table. Select the “discovery task” that was created and click
“Run Now”. The discovery of the servers invokes the discovery of the cluster. Refer
to the SIM user manual for details on how to invoke discovery.
If the discovery of the systems has occurred without setting the WBEM/WMI System
Protocol settings, the user must provide the user name and password of the owner of
the agent process for each server in the cluster.
For SIM v5.2, this information can be added via Options -> Protocol Settings ->
System Protocol Settings in SIM. After selecting a system, in the WBEM Settings
section, the user may enter a port number, user name, and password for the agent
and then click “Run Now” at the bottom of the page when finished.
For SIM v5.3, the user should provide the WBEM credentials and port number for a
system via Options Security Credentials System Credentials Edit
system credentials. The WBEM settings would show up after clicking “Show advanced
protocol settings”. To run a task in SIM v5.3, the user must check “Update
values for this protocol” under SNMP Settings via Options -> Protocol
Settings -> System Protocol Settings and then click “Run Now” at the bottom
of the page.
If the Performance Essentials NonStop and/or Linux Agents are not running from the
default ports, then the user will need to update the Ports.properties file. By default,
the Performance Essentials NonStop agent runs on port 8888 and the Performance
Essentials Linux agent runs on port 443. To modify the Ports.properties file, the user
needs to access the file from the inside the SIM installation folder (C:\Program
Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\config\performance) and edit the file using
Notepad. The user will need to enter in the IP Address and Port number where the
agent is running for all Performance Essentials agents that are not using the default
ports, e.g.: 16.107.123.11=4814. [Note: If a system has multiple IPs (as reflected in
the System Property Page for that system) then each of the IPs need to be listed
with the port number.] After the Ports.properties file has been modified and saved,
