Sharing FS volumes with other XP7 storage system software applications
You can create FS pairs using pair volumes for XP7 storage system replication software applications,
such as BC and Continuous Access Synchronous (Cnt Ac-S). You can also create FS pairs using
volumes to which you define attributes using Data Retention or RAID Manager.
You can share FS volumes with the following HP software application volumes:
• Data Retention (see “Sharing volumes and Data Retention access attributes” (page 19)).
• Auto LUN (see “Sharing Fast Snap volumes with Auto LUN” (page 21)).
• Business Copy (see “Sharing Fast Snap volumes with Business Copy” (page 21)).
• Continuous Access Synchronous (see “Sharing Fast Snap volumes with Continuous Access
Synchronous and Continuous Access Journal” (page 23)).
• Continuous Access Journal (see “Sharing Fast Snap volumes with Continuous Access
Synchronous and Continuous Access Journal” (page 23)).
The following table show when you can share FS pair volumes with other XP7 storage system
software application volumes. If a volume that you share with an FS volume is shown in the table,
the pair status determines whether you can perform tasks.

1. If you use RWC to share the volume with other XP7 storage system software applications, the pair status determines
whether you can share the volume.
2. To share the volume with other XP7 storage system software applications, you must use RAID Manager.
3. You cannot Quick Restore.
4. Use the Data Retention to set this attribute.
5. Use RAID Manager to set this attributes.
6. Use the Data Retention to confirm whether this attribute is set to volume.
