Restrictions for consistency group pair-split
Consistency group (CG) pair-split has the following restrictions:
To perform a CG pair-split on BC pairs, the pairs must have been created using RWC. You
cannot use CG pair-split if the pairs were created using RAID Manager.

Workflow for maintaining consistent Business Copy secondary volume backups
If you are sharing BC P-VOLs with Cnt Ac-S or Cnt Ac-J S-VOLs, use the following workflow to
maintain a consistent backup of BC S-VOLs:
1. Assign Cnt Ac-J pairs to the same journal group.
For more information about assigning BC pairs to journals, see the HP XP7 Continuous Access
Journal User Guide.

Workflow for ensuring snapshot data is consistent with P-VOL data
Use the following workflow to ensure the snapshot data is consistent with the P-VOL data and is
ready to use in an BC pair user task:
1. Split the pair. To do this, complete one of the following:
If you are using RWC, split the BC pairs in the CG.
The volume is split (“PSUS” status).
For more information about how to perform a CG pair-split , see “Workflow for consistency
group pair-split” (page 49).
If you are using RAID Manager to run commands, run the following command on the BC
pair:
pairsplit
BC pair resynchronization
You can resynchronize split (“PSUS” status) or suspended (“PSUE” status) pairs, which pairs the
split volumes. Resynchronizing a split pair copies the P-VOL’s differential data to the S-VOL and
again pairs the S-VOL with the P-VOL. Resynchronizing a suspended pair copies the entire P-VOL
to the S-VOL.
