HP XP7 Business Continuity Manager Installation Guide (TK954-96002)

When Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe is installed
This section provides notes on registering a user SVC and setting environment variables and system
symbols when installing Business Continuity Manager in an environment in which Tiered Storage
Manager for Mainframe is installed.
Registering a user SVC in an environment in which Tiered Storage Manager for
Mainframe is installed
Business Continuity Manager and Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe share a user SVC.
Therefore, you need to compare the version of the user SVC that is registered by using Tiered
Storage Manager for Mainframe and currently in effect in the system and the version of the user
SVC that is required for Business Continuity Manager, and then use the newer version of user SVC.
To check the version of the user SVC that is currently in effect in the system, use the KTINSCHK
command of Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe.
If the user SVC version you checked does not satisfy the conditions placed on the required
version (i.e. the version is older than the required version):
Delete the user SVC by using Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe, and register a user
SVC by using Business Continuity Manager.
If the user SVC version you checked satisfy the conditions placed on the required version:
You can use the user SVC currently in effect in the system without change.
TIP:
For details about the user SVC versions required for Business Continuity Manager, see
(page 47).
For details about the KTINSCHK command and how to delete a user SVC by using Tiered
Storage Manager for Mainframe, see the HP Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe User
Guide.
This procedure is available when you perform a new installation of Business Continuity
Manager. If you upgrade Business Continuity Manager, see “Deleting the user SVC” (page 44)
in “Pre-upgrade procedure” (page 44).
Setting environment variables and system symbols in an environment in which Tiered
Storage Manager for Mainframe is installed
Business Continuity Manager and Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe use the same environment
variables and system symbols. Therefore, if Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe is running on
the system, we recommend that you do not change the environment setting values (environment
variables or the values set for system symbols) that are currently valid in the system. In particular,
if you change the prefix for the license information dataset, you need to re-register the license for
Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe because the license information dataset is shared by
Business Continuity Manager and Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe. Keep this fully in mind
when you need to change an environment setting value.
