HP XP7 Business Continuity Manager Installation Guide (TK954-96002)

C Notes when multiple versions of Business Continuity
Manager exist
This section gives notes on upgrade processing when multiple versions of Business Continuity
Manager exist in a system.
Configuration files
Configuration files created in an older version of Business Continuity Manager can be used in a
newer version as they are. However, once you edit the configuration files created in an older
version of Business Continuity Manager by using a newer version, the older version can no longer
read those configuration files.
Therefore, in an environment where multiple versions of Business Continuity Manager exist, HP
recommends that you use different configuration files for each version of Business Continuity
Manager.
License information dataset
The license information dataset can be shared by old and new versions of Business Continuity
Manager. However, the license will be dealt with as an invalid license unless that license is valid
for the relevant version of Business Continuity Manager.
Changed display for the license name
In Business Continuity Manager 5.0, display of the XP7 for Business Continuity Manager Extended
CT Group license in the Manage Licenses panel was changed.
Business Continuity Manager versions 4.0 to 4.2 and Business Continuity Manager versions 5.0
to 5.3 display different license names in this panel, but use the same key code. Copycentral 2.0,
Business Continuity Manager 3.0, and Business Continuity Manager 4.0 to 4.2 display the same
license name in the panel, but use different key codes.
In Copycentral 2.0, Business Continuity Manager 3.0, and Business Continuity Manager 4.0
to 4.2:
The Business Continuity Manager Extended CT Group license is displayed as Extended CT
Group.
In Business Continuity Manager 5.0 to 5.3:
The Business Continuity Manager Extended CT Group license is displayed as TC Sync
Extended CTG.
In Business Continuity Manager 5.5 or later:
The Business Continuity Manager Extended CT Group license was combined with the Business
Continuity Manager Basic license. If Basic is displayed, the Cnt Ac-S Z consistency
preservation function can be used.
Prefix for the license information dataset
Business Continuity Manager versions earlier than 4.1 do not support the Business Continuity
Manager environment variable YKLCNS2. Therefore, if both Business Continuity Manager versions
earlier than 4.1 and Business Continuity Manager versions 4.1 or later exist in a system, do not
specify the environment variable YKLCNS2. If this parameter is specified, one of the Business
Continuity Managers will not be able to read the license information dataset.
