Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements

Required Patches The VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) release operates only on HP-UX

11i 64-bit operating systems with the September 2002 HP-UX 11i (or later) release

installed.

To avoid system hangs, please install patch PHKL_27825 (Cumulative VM, Processor

Sets, Preemption, PRM) and PHKL_28785 (VxFS 3.5-ga15 Kernel Cumulative Patch

02). See the Additional Patch Information section for more information about how to

obtain patches.

The optional patches released for defect ﬁxes for VxFS 3.5 are recommended to be

installed on the system. The optional patches are PHKL_29212, PHCO_27910 and

PHKL_28785.

The required patches containing rootability changes are PHKL_27096, PHCO_27101

and PHCO_27209 and are installed as part of the September 2002 HP-UX 11i (or later)

release. The required patch, PHKL_27800, adds features in the HP-UX VxFS layer to

support B3929DA/full VxFS 3.5 and is installed as part of the B3929DA product.

NOTE PHKL_27800 has been issued a critical patch warning, please check the patch

information for warning details, since then it has been replaced with a newer

superseding patch PHKL_28999 (s700_800 11.11

getmount_entry;rename;creat;[u]mount;VxFS3.5) We recommend customers to install

this new patch.

The optional patch, PHKL_26761, is required only for the operation of the vx_ninode

tunable parameter. The vx_ninode parameter speciﬁes the maximum number of inodes

available in the VxFS in-memory inode cache. If not explicitly speciﬁed, the value of

vx_ninode is based on how much physical memory is available on the system. See the

You can use the swlist command to determine whether the correct update and patches

are installed.

have been added or superceded subsequent to the publishing of this document that are

1. Select individual patches to search the Patch Database.

2. Choose hp-ux.

3. Select the appropriate hardware and operating system version to search.

4. Now, enter the keyword VxFS and click Search to get a list of VERITAS File

System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5).
