4 Installing the HP OpenStorage (OST) Plug-in
This section provides information on how to install the HP OpenStorage (OST) plug-in. Topics

Downloading the OpenStorage (OST) plug-in
Download the HP OST plug-in installer zip file from www.software.hp.com/kiosk onto the Windows
Backup Exec (BE) media servers. (Contact your sales contact for user ID and password information.)
Installing the OpenStorage (OST) plug-in with Backup Exec (BE)
You must have Symantec BE software installed before installing the HP OST plug-in. See the BE
installation guide for its installation instructions.
Shut down BE services before installing the OST plug-in. Shutdown of the BE services may leave
processes running in the background that interfere with the OST plug-in installation. Be sure to
terminate any BE processes or services that are running, including any processes or services that
run after the shutdown has taken place.
1. Close any open command prompts so that the environment variable changes that occurred
during the OST plug-in installation are reflected in the command prompt.
2. Double-click the executable file, and the plug-in will install automatically.
During the installation, files are copied in the following locations:
HP OST Plug-in: libstspihpq20.dll; located in BE install directory
Supporting DLLs: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\OpenStorage20\lib
Configuration files: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\OpenStorage20\config
Log files: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\OpenStorage20\logs
NOTE: HP recommends rebooting the BE media server after installing the OST plug-in.
Uninstalling the OpenStorage (OST) plug-in
If it is necessary to uninstall the OST plug-in, complete the following steps:
1. Shut down all BE services.
2. Navigate to Start Control Panel Add or Remove Programs.
3. Select HP OST 2.0 Plugin for Symantec Backup Exec.
4. Click Remove. The plug-in is uninstalled, and all related files are deleted from the system; no
reboot is required.
