are properly grounded when touching static

CAUTION: Powering off the master drive will

interrupt SCSI communications with the

Autoloader or Library. When replacing a drive

other than the master drive in a multiple drive

configuration, you can power off the drive being

replaced without interrupting communication

with the Library.

Customer self repair (CSR)

The tape drive is a mandatory customer self repair

part. HP CSR programs allow you to repair your

storage product. If a CSR part needs replacing, HP

ships the part directly to you so that you can install it

at your convenience. For more information about CSR,

trained on this procedure by reading all

troubleshooting documentation, warnings, and

Removing a drive bay cover 1. Preparing to install the tape drive Removing a tape drive If you are replacing a tape drive: • Make sure the tape cartridge has been removed from the tape drive. Use the operator control panel (OCP) or the remote management interface (RMI) to move the cartridge to a storage slot or mailslot. • If you are replacing the tape drive in a single drive unit or the master drive in a multi-drive unit, verify that backups are not occurring on the drive you are replacing.

Installing the new tape drive Procedure 1 1. Align and slowly insert the new tape drive into the drive bay while supporting the drive assembly. The tape drive should be flush with the back panel of the device. 2 1 2. 3. Tighten the captive thumbscrews with your fingers until the tape drive is secure. Connect the SAS cable to the SAS connector on the new tape drive. Verifying the installation 1. 2. 3. Power on the drive from the OCP or RMI, if necessary.
