Device Manager Agent Operations 44
3-3-3 Difficulties Stopping the hdvmagt or Add-On Modules
Before uninstalling and updating an Agent and any add-on modules, you must stop the Device
Manager agent and add-on modules currently running.
If a Device Manager agent or an add-on module is still running and you are not able to stop the
hdvmagt by running the stop_hdvmagt command, the hdvmagt and add-on modules will generate
the following error because an add-on module is still running:
KAIC21911-E error message Unable to stop hdvmagt because Add-On module
is currently running)
To terminate any running process use the -f "FORCE" option.
Example:
# ./stop_hdvmagt –f (manually stopping the Add-on process).
For Solaris™, AIX
®
, HP-UX, or Linux
®
: if you urgently need to stop the hdvmagt daemon process,
execute the stop_hdvmagt -f option.
For Windows
®
PCs, you may also use the Microsoft
®
Service panel to stop the hdvmagt.
3-4 Modifying Server Information
You can use the hdvmagt_account command to change the Device Manager server to which the
Device Manager agent transmits information.
This command provides an interactive user interface for setting the following property values in the
server.properties file:
server.server.serverIPAddress
server.server.serverPort
server.server.authorization
For details about the hdvmagt_account command, see section
3-10 .
3-5 Changing the Execution Period
This section describes how to change the execution period of the HiScan command. You can change
the execution period in two ways:
Using the system's schedule management function to change the execution period as you want.
Using the hdvmagt_schedule command to set the one-day or one-hour cycle (for details
about the hdvmagt_schedule command, see section
3-9 ).
If you are using a Windows
®
2000 or Windows Server™ 2003 system, see section 3-5-1 . If you are
using a Solaris™, AIX
®
, HP-UX, or Linux
®
system, see section 3-5-2 .
CAUTION: If the execution period is not set up for the HiScan command, you cannot change the execution
period using the system's schedule management function. Set the execution period to one-day cycle or one-
hour cycle. For details on how to do this, see section
2-6-2 .
3-5-1 Changing Execution Period in Windows

Server™ 2003
