New Device Dialog
Once the Quick Restore process has restored the system from the
DVD, some final setup processes must complete within the
operating system. During this time, the user may see a popup
dialog: Windows 2000 has finished installing new devices. You
must restart your computer before the new settings will take
effect. When this window opens, you can ignore it and let the
Quick Restore process complete and automatically reboot the
system.
Veritas Backup Exec
Veritas Backup Exec does not back up snapshot
directories by default
To back up files using snapshot directories a registry change is
required.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause
serious problems that may require you to reinstall your
operating system. Back up your Registry before making any
changes. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. For
information about how to back up, edit, and restore the
Registry in Windows 2000, see Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article Q322755.
1. Go to a command prompt and run regedit.
2. Locate the registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup
3. Remove the entry from the list of files not to backed up which
reads Persistent Storage Manager (Images).
Backup of snapshots can now be performed.
