Version: 5.70 Description This release includes updated firmware for the HP StorageWorks MSL2024 Tape Library. The Library firmware can be updated through any of the following methods: • Remote management interface (RMI). • Operator control panel (OCP) using a USB flash drive. • HP Library and Tape Tools (L&TT). Library firmware version 5.70 Compatible robotics firmware version 3.10e Update recommendation Recommended Supersedes All previous versions of Library firmware.
Fixes Version 5.70 • Improved vertical positioning algorithms to reduce the occurrence of errors 8A 4B (Destination full or blocked) and 8A 4D (Could not pull tape out of slot). • Fixed a case where the library reports Not Ready status after ‘hot plugging’ the library LUN hosting drive, even though the RMI and OCP indicate that the library and drives are Ready. This failure to initialize the drive interface after ‘hot plugging’ is corrected.

Supersedes history IMPORTANT: When updating the MSL2024 to library firmware version 2.00 or higher from firmware 1.70 or 1.80 without first updating to 1.91, you will get an “Invalid Robotic Library firmware” error (83 02). To resolve this issue, update the library firmware a second time to update the robotics firmware to the proper level. IMPORTANT: Several MSL2024 configuration settings are reset to defaults if the Library is upgrading from library firmware versions 1.70 or 1.
