IMPORTANT - HP StorageWorks 1000 Modular Smart Array: Announcing Advanced Active/Active Support (438764-021, February 2007)

2
Whether you are adding an MSA1000 to a new SAN, a SAN segment with other
active/passive devices, or a SAN segment with other active/active devices, you
must examine your network, understand the requirements of active/passive and
active/active configurations, and then determine which version firmware is best for
your environment.
For example, in a SAN with already-installed active/passive devices, you may
want to (or be required to) migrate those existing active/passive devices to
active/active. In addition, you may want to (or be required to) change to a new
multipathing software tool that supports active/active.
In addition to the information in this notice, be sure to confirm the latest list of
supported operating systems and any configuration restrictions for the different
firmware versions. See the two versions (active/active and active/passive) of the
MSA1000 compatibility guides, available on the MSA1000 website:
http://www.hp/com/go/msa1000
.
