Installing and Configuring the HS-Series Agent 423
proper operation of the Agent in any High-Availability Cluster installation. The
implementation of a fully functional Agent capable of high availability failover operation
in an HACMP environment may be divided into the following major components:
Installation
Agent Configuration
Client Installation and Configuration
Operation
Installing the Agent on an HACMP Cluster
There are four steps required to install the Agent on an HACMP cluster:
1. Copy the STM_AIX.TAR file from the \swcc\agent directory on the CD-ROM to a
temporary directory on each node in the cluster as described in Chapter 3.
2. Expand the STM_AIX.TAR file into a suitable directory, preferably the default:
/USR/STGWKS2.
Perform this step on each node in the cluster.
3. Install the Agent on each node in the cluster as described earlier in this chapter.
4. Install Client Software on Remote Machine(s) as described in Appendix B.
Installing and Configuring the Client on an HACMP Cluster
Installing and configuring the Client is essentially the same whether or not using HACMP.
The Client installation and configuration procedures are described in Appendix B.
Operation of the Agent on an HACMP Cluster
The three areas of operation of the Agent on an HACMP cluster that are supported in this
release are:
Normal operation of the Agent on an HACMP cluster.
Failover with Agent as part of a Resource Group.
Failure of the Agent itself.
