Compaq StorageWorks HSG60 ACS Solution Software V8.6 for Linux X86 and Alpha Installation and Configuration Guide

Configuration Procedures 5–15
For a description of why plugging in one adapter can result in multiple connections,
see Numbers of Connections, page 111.
14. Rename the connection(s) to something meaningful to the system and easy to
remember. For example, to assign the name ANGEL1A1 to connection !NEWCON01,
enter:
RENAME !NEWCON01 ANGEL1A1
Compaq recommends using a naming convention, see Naming Connections, page
110.
15. Specify the operating system for the connection:
SET ANGEL1A1 OPERATING_SYSTEM=SUN
IMPORTANT: No Linux connection exists at this time. You must use the SUN setting, as the
connections for SCSI match closely.
16. Verify the changes:
SHOW CONNECTIONS
Mark or tag all Fibre Channel cables at both ends for ease of maintenance.
Repeat Procedure for Each Host Adapter
17. Repeat steps 14, 15, and 16 for each of that adapters host connections or delete the
unwanted connections from the table.
18. For each host adapter, repeat steps 13 through 17.
Verify Installation
To verify installation for your Linux host, restart your system as described in the previous
chapter. After the system is started, verify that your LUNs are accessible.
Configuring Devices
The disks on the device bus of the HSG60 can be configured manually or with the
CONFIG utility. The CONFIG utility is easier. Invoke CONFIG with the following
command:
RUN CONFIG
