Zoning must be consistently and entirely managed from a single selected switch type for the
lifetime of the “Effective Configuration”. Attempting to manage from other vendor switches
results in the loss of zoning information. There is no indicator of which method has been
previously used. It is up to the System Administrator to remember. Currently, the only
indicator is that the vendor establishes a “Defined Configuration”.
Zoning is available for port WWN only. Node WWN members and members added by AL_PA
Port ID are ignored.
Broadcast zones cannot be specified.
For end-ports in McData switches, only Name Server zoning is valid.
Support for Platform Management cannot be enabled unless all switches in the fabric support
the platform management requests introduced in the FC-GS standard, to allow the association
of port and node WWN with specific platforms within the fabric.
The Extended Fabric feature is available in a heterogeneous switch fabric of other vendor
switches.
The Alias server is not available.
