Version: Fabric Manager 5.4.0a Description Fabric Manager is a powerful application that manages multiple B-Series switches, directors and fabrics in real time. In particular, Fabric Manager provides the essential functions for configuring, monitoring, dynamically provisioning, and managing B-Series Fibre Channel switch fabrics.
Devices supported For the latest supported devices, see the HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager QuickSpecs available at http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/fabricmanager.
Supported B-Series switches Table 1 lists the Brocade switches and the corresponding HP switches supporting Fabric Manager 5.4.0a. Table 1 B-Series switches supporting Fabric Manager 5.4.
Supported Fabric OS versions Table 2 lists the recommended Fabric OS versions for this release. Fabric Manager 5.4.0a is compatible with Fabric OS versions 5.3.x and 6.x. NOTE: HP recommends using the latest software versions to get the greatest benefit from the SAN. Go to http://www.hp.com for the latest supported version of Fabric OS. NOTE: With FR4-18i blade installed, you must use Fabric OS 5.1.0 or later. With FC4-48 you must use Fabric OS 5.2.0 or later. With FC4-16IP you must use Fabric OS 5.2.1b or later. With the FC10-6 blade you must use Fabric OS 6.0.0b or later. IMPORTANT: Please consult your specific port blade installation instructions to determine the required Fabric OS version. Enhancements This section summarizes Fabric Manager 5.4.0a enhancements. New features introduced in Fabric Manager 5.4.0a Fabric Manager 5.4.
NOTE: HP recommends taking a backup of your database before starting the upgrade through the Server Management Console. If the upgrade fails, re-run the installer to install the older version of Fabric Manager. To do this, stop the Fabric Manager services, restore the backed-up database, start the services, and then try the upgrade operation again. See the Brocade Fabric Manager Administrator’s Guide for detailed steps on how to backup/restore the database. Installing Fabric Manager on Windows (server) 1.
To start Fabric Manager 1. Open a browser window and type the Fabric Manager server hostname or IP address in the Address field; for example: http://FMserverhost1.companyname.com/ http://192.168.10.11/ If, when the Fabric Manager server was installed, a Fabric Manager web server port number was specified (instead of the default 80), you must specify the port number after the hostname or IP address. In the following examples, 8080 is the web server port number: http://FMserverhost1.companyname.
Upgrading the Fabric Manager client after upgrading the Fabric Manager server After you upgrade the Fabric Manager server, delete all existing shortcuts for the Fabric Manager client. In order for the client to attach to the upgraded server, enter the IP address of the server into the browser window. You should see Javastart install the upgraded client. If you do not, close the browser and try again.
The workaround is to select Edit > Preference and toggle the FTP server selection between internal and external a few times. Verifying a failure In some unusual instances a firmware download fails but no reason for the failure is shown in Fabric Manager. To determine the cause of the failure, telnet into the switch and issue the firmwareDownloadStatus command to view the complete failure message.
Topology legend does not have a reference for 8Gb links The Topology legend does not have a graphic for 8Gb link. To display the link speed or select the link in the Topology view position the mouse over the link. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and the Management Console When SSL is enabled for a fabric, the Fabric Manager Server Management Console (SMC) does not verify the host name when authentication is set to switch-based.
HBAnyware Some older versions of HBAnyware do not support more than eight HBAs in the same host. Having more than eight HBAs in the same host causes intermittent firmware download failures, and also can cause the host to crash. See the Emulex documentation for HBAnyware limitations.
Workaround: Use the CLI commands lsanzoneshow, fcrproxydevshow, and fcrphydevshow to view the LSAN information. Uninstalling Fabric Manager After uninstalling Fabric Manager, check whether the Fabric Manager installation folder still exists on the host. If it still exists, then manually delete it. Zoning The following sections describe zoning.
Filtering Information panel Filtering functionality available on the information panel tables should work by pressing Enter, however it does not. Workaround: To filter rows on the information panel tables, enter the string and click Filter or the space bar. Device types After deselecting the “show all” option for filtering devices, all devices associated with the fabric are displayed in the View panel.
