5.6.x HP X9000 Series Network Storage System Installation Guide (TA768-96056, December 2011)

If you are performing the installation on an existing cluster, ensure that the same version of the
X9000 software is installed on all nodes.
Configuration options
The management console is configured first. You then have two options for configuring file serving
nodes:
Create a configuration template that specifies environment and network settings and defines
how hostnames are assigned. You can then apply the template to the file serving nodes.
Configure the file serving nodes individually.
Configuring the management console
You can configure the management console in two ways:
Agile management console. This is the recommended option for the management console.
The management console is configured on two File Serving Nodes. The agile management
console is active on one node, and passive on the other node. If necessary, the agile
management console can fail over to the passive node, providing high availability.
Standard management console. The management console is configured on a dedicated
Management Server.
If you plan to use the agile management console, you can set it up when you run the Management
Console Configuration Wizard.
To configure the management console, complete the following steps:
1. Log into the system as user root (the default password is hpinvent). The Management
Console Configuration Wizard starts automatically. (You can also launch the Wizard manually
by entering the command /usr/local/ibrix/autocfg/bin/menu_wizard.)
When using the menu, press the up and down arrow keys to select an item in the list. When
you have made your selection, press Tab to go to the buttons at the bottom of the dialog box,
and then press the spacebar to activate your selection.
2. When the System Deployment Menu appears, select Form a new cluster.
3. You can now configure the management console. The Introduction screen describes the
configuration process.
