Enhancements in the 3.7.0 release
The HP Scalable NAS 3.7.0 release contains the following new features:
Security features:
Role-Based Security Control. You can create roles, define the operations that are allowed or denied
for each role, and add specific user or group accounts to the roles.
Auditing of all login attempts and user-initiated actions that change the cluster configuration.
User authentication. When HP Scalable NAS is installed, it determines whether the Pluggable
Authentication Modules (PAM) mechanism is configured on the system. If PAM is installed, authen-
tication will be done via the method specified in the PAM configuration. If PAM is not installed on
the system, authentication will be done with the local shadow password files.
Availability features:
Replication. HP Scalable NAS provides tools and processes to enable automatic replication of the
data in your clustered PSFS filesystems.
IMPORTANT:
Replication has performance implications for the cluster. Before implementing replication, be sure
to review the section Replication tuning in Chapter 14,Configure and manage replication, of
the
HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration guide
.
Dynamic volume recovery. A dynamic volume can be rebuilt from the LUNs originally in the volume,
allowing volumes to be moved easily from one cluster to another. This feature can be also be used
to recover dynamic volumes from mirrored LUNs for disaster recovery purposes.
Online membership partition repair and replacement. Membership partitions can now be added,
repaired, or replaced while HP Scalable NAS is running.
Cluster management features:
New event viewer. The event viewer shows the HP Scalable NAS event messages currently in the
event log. You can filter the output to limit the messages that appear, and you can display details
about specific messages.
