New features
This section provides details on the new features and enhancements introduced with Fabric OS
7.1. See the Fabric OS Administrator's Guide for Fabric OS 7.1.0 for further details on the features
in this release.
D_Port (Diagnostic Port) enhancements
Support for D_Port on optical ICL ports of the HP SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director
and the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director. This does not include Electrical and loop-back
functionality as these are not supported by the QSFPs used on the optical ICL ports.
New D_Port test options are added to extend the D_Port functionality that allow users to specify
options such as number of frames, frame size, data pattern, and duration of the test, while
running the D_Port test.
Addition of D_Port support on 16 Gb platforms configured as Access Gateways (AG). The
supported configurations are:
- D_Port between 16 Gb AG and 16 Gb switch
- D_Port between 16 Gb AG and another 16 Gb AG
In-Flight encryption and compression enhancements
Increase in the number of Encryption/Compression ports based on port speed For any
supported 16 Gb blade or 16 Gb switch, the number of ports supported for
Encryption/Compression at 8 Gb speed is twice the number of ports supported at 16 Gb
speed.
In-flight Encryption/Compression with port decommissioning Users can enable port
decommissioning on a port that also has in-flight Encryption/Compression enabled.
In-flight Encryption/Compression on EX_Ports This feature requires 16 Gb capable ports at
both ends of the link.
Ability to display compression ratio The portstatsshow command displays compression
ratio on a compression-enabled port.
Ability to display port speed The portenccompshow command displays the port speed of
Encryption/Compression-enabled ports
FEC (Forward Error Correction) support enhancements
There is FEC support on additional links between a 16 Gb switch and 16 Gb AG and between
a pair 16 Gb AGs (for cascaded Access Gateway configurations).
NOTE: In Fabric OS 7.0.x FEC is supported only on the 16 Gb FC ISLs.
Enable or disable the FEC feature while configuring a long distance link. This allows end users
to turn off FEC when it is not recommended, such as when configuring active DWDM links.
