HP 3PAR Policy Server 7-3
Editing the OpenDS Configuration File
The installer changes the Policy Server configuration file to use a port other than the default for the OpenDS
directory server. However, it does NOT change the OpenDS configuration file to use a different port
number. Policy Server does not work if the port number in these two configuration files is different.
Therefore, if you did not take the default port (389) for the OpenDS directory server, you must edit the
OpenDS configuration file, config.ldif, before starting the services. Follow these steps:
1. When the installation completes, navigate to the OpenDS directory in your Policy Server installation
directory, and then to the config directory. The path to the file is:
<HP3PS_installation_directory>
/OpenDS-1.0.0/config
2. Using a text editor, open the file, config.ldif.
3. Search for the following entry:
ds-cfg-listen-port: 389
4. Change this listen port number (389) to the port number you entered during installation for the
OpenDS directory server.
5. Save and close the file. If you have other configuration changes you want to make, do so before
starting the services. If not, continue to the next step.
6. Start the OpenDS service first.
7. Next, start the HP 3PAR Policy Server database service.
8. Finally, start the HP 3PAR Policy Server service.
