HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 1. Introduction This Whitepaper provides guidelines on how to install and configure HP OpenView Storage Data Protector for backup/restore in HP ServiceGuard cluster of Linux systems. The versions of HP OpenView Storage Data Protector addressed in this document are A.05.10 and A.05.50. (DP 5.1 and DP 5.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Figure 2-1 Typical Cluster Configuration In the figure, node 1 (one of two SPU's) is running package A, and node 2 is running package B. Each package has a separate group of disks associated with it, containing data needed by the package's applications, and a copy of the data. Note that both nodes are physically connected to disk arrays. However, only one node at a time may access the data for a given group of disks.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Please refer to the chapter “Installing Data Protector on Your Network” in the “HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Installation and Licensing Guide” (Installation.pdf) for the detailed procedure of installing the agent(s). 3.2. Remote Installation The remote installation can be done if a UNIX installation server is present in the Data Protector cell. You can install Data Protector Agent(s) like Disk Agent, Media Agent etc.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 5. Backing Up & Restoring Data in the Cluster To backup data contained in the shared storage of the cluster, the shared disk should be mounted. This can be done by specifying the shared disk as a cluster resource in the package. Starting the package on a host will make it as active node in the cluster (identified by a virtual IP address) and the shared disk will be mounted on the specified mount point.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Note: Please use the virtual host while configuring the Oracle integration and backup specifications. 5.1.3 SAP Backup 3. Install the Data Protector Oracle and SAP R/3 integration agents on the cluster nodes as described earlier. 3. Import the virtual host into the Data Protector Cell as described earlier. Now Data Protector can access the shared data in the cluster. 3. Configure the SAP R/3 integration and backup.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 5.2.3 SAP Restore For details on how to restore SAP data, please refer to the topic “Restoring a SAP R/3 Database” in the chapter “Integrating SAP R/3 and Data Protector” of the “HP OpenView Storage Data Protector UNIX Integration Guide” (IntegrationUX.pdf). For DP 5.
