Description

Fabric OS 5.3.1a is a ﬁrmwarereleasethatcontainsﬁxes since the release of Fabric OS 5.3.1. It also

includes al

l ﬁxes from the Fabric OS 5.2.3 release on the 5.2 stream. There is no new device support

added with this release for HP StorageWorks platforms.

Update recommendations

If your model is the SAN Switch 2/8V , SAN Switch 2/16V, SAN Switch 2/32 or SAN Switch 2/128, HP

strongly recommends that you upgrade to Fabric OS 5.3.1a as soon as possible. Although Fabric OS

5.3.1a is supported on all the products listed in Supported product models, HP recommends upgrading to

the latest 6.x ﬁrmware for 4Gb and 8G b products. See the appropriate HP StorageWorks Fabric OS

6.x release notes for details.

Consider the following before upgrading:

• If upgrading from Fabric OS 5.1.x, install Fabric OS 5.3.1a before installing the latest port and

intelligent blad es in the 4/256 Director. However, HP recommends upgrading to the latest

Fabric OS 6.x ﬁrmware for this Director. See the appropriate HP StorageWorks Fabric OS 6.x

release notes for details.

• If upgrading from Fabric OS 5.1.x with switches running 2.6.x in the fabric, upgrading to 5.3.1a is

not supported un less 2.6.x switches are separated by a Router.
