Recovery Procedures
3PAR Recovery Manager 4.1.0 For Microsoft Exchange 2010 User’s Guide
5 Mount the desired virtual copy to the staging Exchange server either from the Recovery
Manager GUI or from the command line using the RMExch mount command. Refer to
Chapter 6, Using the Recovery Manager GUI and Chapter 7, Using the Recovery Manager
CLI for details on running Recovery Manager from the GUI and command line.
6 Delete the original .EDB, .LOG, and .CHK files for a clean restore. ONLY remove the files,
NOT their parent/intermediate folders as the original database path and its structures must
be kept the same. Also delete all catalog subdirectories under your database directories.
You should also delete all catalog subdirectories under your database directories. The files
may be moved to new locations instead of completely removed.
7 From the backup server, execute the Recovery Manager filecopy restore command:
RMExch restore -mdb <mailbox_DB_name> -t <timestamp> -filecopy. You can
alternately use the GUI to perform a filecopy restore (see Chapter 6, Using the Recovery
Manager GUI for detailed instructions).
8 After the filecopy restore completes and the database files are successfully recovered, the
database can now be re-mounted to continue its operation. If performing the restore in a
DAG environment, reseed the database replication if necessary.
8.4.2 Volume Promote Point-In-Time Recovery
To perform a volume promote point-in-time recovery, make sure the virtual copy you would
like to promote has the status Available. If it is Mounted, unmount it. Then execute the
promote restore command from the Recovery Manager for Exchange backup server.
8.4.3 Point-Of-Failure Recovery for Filecopy Restore
To perform a point-of-failure recovery for filecopy restore:
1 Move the currently existing log files on your Mailbox Database volumes that you want to
roll forward.
NOTE: If in a cluster, go to the Cluster Administrator and take the Exchange
Information Store Instance resource offline. If not in a cluster, go to the services
menu and stop the Exchange Information Store Service.
