Collection&ProperDisposal Disposeofused(orexcess)batteriesin
compliancewithfederal,state/provincialand
localregulations.Donotaccumulatelargequantitiesofusedbatteriesfordisposalas
accumulationscouldcausebatteriestoshort‐circuit.Donotincinerate.Incountries,
suchasCanadaandtheEU,wherethereareregulationsforthecollectionandrecycling
ofbatteries,consumersshoulddispose
oftheirusedbatteriesintothecollection
networkatmunicipaldepotsandretailers.Theyshouldnotdisposeofbatterieswith
householdtrash.

standardsspecifytestsandrequirementsforalkalinebatteriestoensuresafeoperation
undernormaluse
andreasonablyforeseeablemisuse.Thetestregimesassessthree
conditionsofsafety.Theseare:
