162. Remove the cowl from the fuselage. Carefully drill each
location using a 3mm drill bit.
167. Remove the cowl and make the openings to allow the muffl er
to exit the cowl.
When joining the cowl halves, start at the back
and work toward the front when installing
the screws to maintain alignment.
163. Attach the muffl ers to the engine. 168. Attach the 6-inch (152.4mm) spinner and propeller to the
engine.
A Falcon propeller and spinner are shown. Both can be
obtained pre-drilled for your particular engine installation.
Using canopy glue instead of thread lock when
installing the cowling screws for the final time
will allow easier removal of the screws.
164. Place the cowl back in place. Secure the cowl using M3 x 10
button head screws and M3 washers. Place a drop of canopy
glue on each screw before they are installed.
169. The lower section of the cowling will need to be opened to
allow air to pass over the engine. Use hobby scissors and a
rotary tool to remove this material from the cowling.
165. Remove the top half of the cowl. Mark the locations of the
muffl er outlets on the cowl.
166. Place a small amount of epoxy on each of the blind nuts in
the bottom cowl half to keep them from coming loose when
joining the cowl halves.
Use care not to get epoxy in the threads of the blind nuts.
Either secure the left set, then right set, of blind nuts,
allowing the epoxy to cure between each half. The threads of
the blind nuts can also be filled with wax or petroleum jelly.
