UP Series 5 Applications 5. Applications The Grundfos circulator pumps, Series UP(S), are specifically designed for heating systems. The pumps are also suitable for circulation of hot domestic water and for circulation of liquid in cooling and airconditioning systems. UP Series 5 Applications Pumped liquids Maximum system pressure Depending on type, Grundfos circulator pumps are designed for the following liquids: • Potable water • non-potable water • water-glycol mixtures • chilled water • domestic hot water • softened water. If the circulator pump is used for a glycol mixture with a higher viscosity than that of water, the hydraulic performance of the pump will be reduced. Example: 50 % glycol at 68 °F (20 °C) means a viscosity of approx.
UP Series 5 ALPHA Applications Control display The Grundfos ALPHA is the next generation of energy efficient wet-rotor circulator pumps. By incorporating a permanent magnet motor design, power consumption is now reduced by a minimum of 50 %. With the AUTOADAPT™ feature, Grundfos ALPHA will automatically analyze the system demands and adjust head and or flow requirements to meet changing heating demands.
UP Series 5 Standard features The Grundfos MixiMizerTM is a fully integrated injection mixing pump utilizing indoor/outdoor control. Appropriate water temperature will be supplied to your mixing loop through adjustments in pump speed based on outdoor temperature and supply/return piping sensors.
UP Series The Grundfos variable-speed pump is another product with fully integrated control. The variable-speed controller requires a 0-10/2-10 VDC or 0-20/4-20 mA control signal, which is user-selectable. If desired, the manual-% dial allows the speed of the pump to be manually adjusted and set by the user. The speed of the pump may be manually adjusted anywhere from min. to 100 %, but once set, remains fixed at that speed. In addition, the pump speed may be set as 0-100 % or 15-100 % by user.
UP Series 5 Applications Comfort System Description (UP open systems) Material The Comfort System uses a patented Comfort Valve® and pump to provide instant availability of hot water at the point of use. Operation The Comfort Valve® is installed at the fixture furthest away from the hot-water tank. With a built-in timer, the pump allows hot water to circulate along the loop through the valve using the cold-water side as a return line.
UP Series UP 10 Comfort pump Water flowing through the pump is hermetically separated from the stator with a stainless steel spherical separator. The motor can be separated from the pump housing, enabling easy maintenance and replacement.
