GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The NEMA heavy-duty weather-resistant floodlight designated
_______ (identify) shall be a GE P-154 POWERFLOOD
®
floodlight, ordering number _______ (specify P54H, plus order-
ing number logic from catalog) UL844 Listed for use in Class I,
Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D locations and UL1598 Listed
for Outdoor Salt Water Marine (formerly UL595), or approved
equal, for operation of one _______ (specify [70, 100, 150(55V),
200, 250 or 400] watt high pressure sodium [HPS] or [175, 250
or 400 (E-18 or ED-28 only)] watt metal halide) lamp from a
nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 240, 277 or 480) volt, 60
Hertz power source and shall be capable of starting and op-
erating the specified lamp within the limits specified by the
lamp manufacturer. The floodlight shall contain a completely
prewired integral ballast and optical assembly with 6X6 or 7X6
NEMA type beam spread (horizontal X vertical). Labeling shall
be in accordance with UL and NEMA Listings. Standard con-
struction is IP65.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The floodlight shall include a die-cast aluminum housing and
hinged and removable front-access door with two captive
closure screws (or optional latches), integral ballast, heavy-
gauge coated steel trunnion mounting with vertical aiming
degree markings, and a tempered heat-resistant door glass. All
hardware shall be corrosion-resistant. All die-cast aluminum
surfaces shall have an electrocoat dark bronze paint finish.
The floodlight shall have a convenient external wiring box
mounted on the bottom of the heavy-duty cast aluminum
housing. The wiring box shall have a 3/4-inch threaded conduit
entrance.
BALLAST OPERATION
The floodlight shall contain a standard _______ (specify
Autoreg, Mag-Reg or HPF Reactor or Lag) type ballast* in full
compliance with lamp-ballast specifications available to the
fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufacturer at the time
of fixture manufacture.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient
temperatures down to -2F for metal halide or
-40°F for HPS.
The luminaire and ballast shall be from the same
manufacturer.
The optical assembly shall include a precision-formed alumi-
num reflector and heat/impact-resistant tempered flat door
glass and front door gasket. The aluminum reflector shall have
a chemically bonded lightweight non-breakable ALGLAS
®
finish
on both the inside and outside surfaces providing corrosion re-
sistance, durability and ease of cleaning. The optical assembly
shall contain a mogul base socket with superior lamp gripping.
The socket shall have the ability to handle the higher pulse rat-
ings of newer HID systems.
