First, 4 Helpful Tips before you start:

New asphalt/blacktop driveways - Wait at least 6 months (including one full

summer season) prior to sealing to allow it to allow the driveway to fully cure and

When to apply the second coat - We recommend waiting 4-12 hours, until the first

coat is fully dry and cured. In optimal conditions, if the driveway is sealed early in the

morning and the entire driveway is in full sun and is fully dry, you may apply a second

coat the same day

How to seal an asphalt / blacktop driveway Step 3: Apply an asphalt Driveway Sealer 1. Pour ½ the container of sealer onto the clean blacktop. Work on one small area at a time, applying a thin coat, brushing away any excess as you apply the sealer. First one direction… 2. Apply first coat in one direction, and then second coat in the opposite direction (see diagram at right). 3. Work the product across the blacktop with a brush. Apply in a cross-hatch pattern to ensure all voids are filled and sealed.
