The formula for determining the correct crush block length is: Desired clearance from bottom rail to mounting surface + 31/4" = length of crush block. Position the rail so it can be attached to the mounting brackets, making sure the rail sits on the resting flanges. Install two of the supplied 1" Phillips stainless steel pan head screws into each mounting bracket (1 on each side) in the middle slot of the brackets.

Step 7: Chisel the center area at each end of the deck board. The area chiseled will need to be deep enough so that the deck board will sit flush over the top rail bracket covers on each end without a gap between the bracket and deck board. Step 8: Center the Deck board over the top rail.

PVC glue can be applied to hold the Trim Kit into place at the top and bottom of the post. There may be some marginal spacing in the Trim Kit to Post fit. Exterior caulk can be used as a filler.
