Metal Laminate Sheet
Installation Instructions
Surface:
The anodization process creates a durable surface that does not require waxing and is resistant to
tarnishing and abrasion, similar to aluminum. To protect the finish, all products come with a clear
peel-off mask that should be left on during fabrication to prevent surface damage. Metal laminates
are recommended for all vertical and light-duty horizontal use. Brushed metal laminates such as
copper or art copper are coated with a cellulose-based lacquer that is compatible with other lacquer
systems, allowing for additional finishing if necessary.
Fabricating:
Metal laminates can be fabricated using the same tools and substrates commonly used for high-
pressure decorative laminates. However, care must be taken to avoid denting the surface with tools
or scratching it with metal particles. Carbide-tipped blades and bits are recommended to avoid
generating heat and scorching metal.
Adhesives:
Contact cement or cold set adhesive can be used with metal laminates, but adhesive spreading or
set up on the metallic surface should be avoided. Only use naphtha or benzine for adhesive clean
up; lacquer solvents or other adhesive solvents that attack lacquer coatings should not be used.
Storage:
Metal laminates should be stored face up in a cool, dry area and in a completely supported flat
position. Use a top sheet of chipboard or similar material to hold stored sheets flat. Edge storage is
not recommended.
Maintenance:
Before cleaning, ensure that the cleaning agent used is compatible with either our anodized or
lacquered products prior to use. Clean surfaces with a soft cloth and household cleaner, such as
Windex or ordinary soap and water. Furniture or automobile waxes provide additional protection for
all metal laminate surfaces.
