Operation Manual

Description and use of the control panel Page 28
3 MODE
There are two possible options with the “MODE” parameter.
AUTO This is the normal setting. The ELAC subwoofer is kept in power-saving stand-by mode (blue stand-
by LED is on). The inputs are constantly monitored by a sensor. As soon as a sufficiently strong bass sig-
nal is present, the amplifier is switched on. Within tenths of a second, the subwoofer is ready for operation,
and the stand-by LED goes out.
If the input signals stop, the ELAC subwoofer stays for another approx. 15 minutes in fully-active status,
and then returns to stand-by mode.
Tip: If the automatic switch on system does not react until at higher volumes, then increase the bass/LFE
level of your surround receiver and reduce the level on the subwoofer itself by the same degree. Acousti-
cally, this has no effect. The subwoofer will however switch on even at low volumes.
ON The subwoofer is permanently completely switched on, and does not switch to stand-by mode.
To completely switch off the subwoofer (isolation from power supply) the mains switch must be used. This is lo-
cated on the rear panel of the subwoofer.
To adjust the operating modes, go to the rotation menu with one of the outer arrow keys to select “Mode”. By
pressing the selector key in the middle, you arrive at operating mode selection. Now select the required operating
mode with one of the outer arrow keys, and return to the rotation menu by pressing the selector key. Your selected
mode will now be shown.
4 DISPLAY
There are two modes for the display:
AUTO This is the normal setting. If no input signals arrive via the buttons or remote control, then the ELAC
subwoofer waits for another 1 minute and then automatically switches off the background lighting of the
display. When a button is pressed, the background lighting is automatically switched on again.
ON The background lighting of the subwoofer display is permanently switched on.
To adjust the display mode, go to the rotation menu with one of the outer arrow keys to select “Display”. By press-
ing the selector key in the middle, you arrive at operating mode selection. Now select the required operating mode
with one of the outer arrow keys, and return to the rotation menu by pressing the selector key. Your selected mode
will now be shown.
