Cutler-Hammer 1.B. 48006 Instructions for Mechanical-Larch Attachments for Type SJA, SJD, 8JO and SJS Contractors, 360 or 720 Amperes /N\ DANGER HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE. READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS MANUAL AND THAT PERTAINING TO ITS ELECTRICALLY HELD CONTRACTOR (SEE TABLE 1} IN THEIR ENTIRETY BEFORE INSTALLING OR OPERATING THE CONTROLLER. INSTALLATION, ADJUSTMENT, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THIS TYPE OF EQUIPMENT RUST BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
Page 2 1.B. 48006 OPERATION {Continued) The latch may have one or two rip {unlatch) solenoids. Each solenoid has an isolated trip coll they may operated. Either or both solenoids, when energized, will trip the latch arm by pushing down the latch arm located below the contractor armature, thus allowing the armature fo move into the open-contrasts position. The latch arm has a roller-bearing cam whee! on the end they engages the armature, so that friction is minimized and the trip action is fast.

Pages 1.B. 48006 CHECK-OUT, MECHANICAL (Continued) if the contractor is checked in its enclosure, male certain they the contractor coll is schematically isolated, to prevent feedback into a control power transformer they could be hazardous. With an extension cord and a separate power source of correct voltage, connect power 10 the coll of the contractor. Operate appropriate populations fo close. If the contractor doses not close fully, refer to MAINE. MANE.

If the trip solenoid{s) do not unlatch the mechanism: al b. ©. Check voltage applied to the coincidences) to ba sure it is within 80% of rated voltage. Check each solenoid coll for continuity. Replace if bummed open. See Table iil. Make certain there is an air gap under each solenoid armature of 1120 fo .130 inch mm) when the contractor is itched.
