The Suspension Kit allows the Dri-Eaz Compact Dehumidifier to be suspended from floor joists in a crawl space,
basement or similar location. When properly installed, the Kit will help to reduce noise and vibration while the
dehumidifier is operating. Adjustable straps allow easy access to the unit for cleaning or service.
TOOLS AND FASTENERS REQUIRED
Wood screws ×4 (1¼ in. wood screws recommended)
Screwdriver or cordless drill with bit
1. Select a location in the space that will allow for proper distribution of air, and easy access to floor joists.
2. Mark four mounting points on the floor joists, as shown in Fig. A below. The mounting straps will be hung from these
locations. The spacing (14.5 in.) between the marks on each joist is important to ensure proper weight balance after
installation.
3. Place one end of each suspension strap on each of the two marks
on one joist, aligning the screw mounting hole (see Fig. B) with the
mark. Drive a wood screw placed through the screw mounting hole
to secure the strap end on to the joist.
4. Mount the other end of each suspension strap on the opposing joist,
using the same process.
5. Using the leveling straps (see Fig. B), release enough strap in each
loop until both straps rest on the crawlspace floor, or until they are
low enough to allow the dehumidifier to be inserted.
6. Place the dehumidifier onto the straps. Using the leveling straps,
raise each end alternately a few inches at a time. Repeat until the
top of the unit is no lower than a few inches below the bottom of the
floor joints.
TIP: When installation is complete, the dehumidifier should hang freely
from the straps. Make sure that the dehumidifier does not touch the
joists, support posts or any other part of the structure. This will help
reduce vibration and noise during operation.
7. Using a level, confirm that the dehumidifier is level from front to back
and side to side. Loosen or tighten straps as needed to ensure the
unit is level.
8. Connect power supply and pump hose. Pump hose should be
installed with a gradual downward grade where possible. The end of
the hose should be placed in a suitable drain, preferably outside the
crawlspace area, and should not be placed higher than three feet
above the unit. .
The dehumidifier is now ready for operation. Please refer to the
dehumidifier Owner’s Manual for important safety, operation and
maintenance instructions.
